Looking up as the first students arrived, she smiled at the Hufflepuff as he took a seat. ”Hello, Mister Kovalainen, I’m very glad to that. I hope you enjoy it” She really did, she hoped that all of the students enjoyed all of her lessons. SPOILER!!: Hadley Quote:

Was the dungeon brighter today? Yeah, it was definitely brighter. Hadley didn't even know that was possible. Huh. "Hello, Professor. How are you liking Hogwarts so far?" She gave the new professor a small wave and sat down at an empty workstation. Not hard since they were all empty at the moment. While she waited for class to begin, she began to take out all her potion equipment and set it up.
Just as she finished speaking with mister Kovalainen, the Ravenclaw perfect arrived. Giving the sixth year a wave and a smile back. She didn’t know if she was aware that this wasn’t her first time at Hogwarts or not. ”Hello Miss Denaker, I am. I like being back here, teaching this time.” It was good that the students when ahead and got their station set up. It showed their eagerness to learn. SPOILER!!: Etta Quote:

She picked one in random, put it on and made her way to a workstation closer to the front of classroom. "Hello, professor." She greeted the new professor politely as she sat down, carefully placing her bag on the table. "Hope you're doing well today." Etta gave her a smile before she pulled out her parchment and quill, ready for class to begin.
Another perfect, did they like to try to be the first ones to get to lesson or something. It was nice to see students excitement for the subject though. She smiled back at the Hufflepuff perfect, ”Yes, Miss Kramer my day has been splendid. Hope yours has been as well." Fifth year wasn’t she? Very busy and exciting year ahead of her. SPOILER!!: Daisy Quote:

It was nice to see so many of the students using the lab coats. She smiled at the little first year. ”Thank you, Miss Swann. I am. I hope you are.” SPOILER!!: Mason Quote:

But the he remembered that she was one of the new professors and his surprise changed to curiousity. Would she be fit to teach a bunch of kids? "Hello Professor" he greeted with a nod of his head before he moved towards the first empty desk he saw at the front. He then sat down, opened his potions book and flipped through the pages. Normally he would take out hos supplies but it seemed that everyone already had them on their workstations. ”Hello, Mister Winslow” She greeted the seventh year Ravenclaw as he took a seat. She watched him curiously for a moment. SPOILER!!: Skylar Quote:

There was also the fact that Senior Professor Newton was no longer teaching them and while last year, she hadn't seen him much, she did feel strongly over his abilities to teach potions.
She wasn't so sure about this Professor Canterbury yet, but she guessed only time would tell. "Good morning, Professor Canterbury," Skylar greeted politely, figuring it was best to not get off on the wrong foot. She then went to find a seat and set up her potion things.
Ciara turned her eyes back to the door. Just in time to look up abs see the slytherin girl arrive. ”Good Morning, Miss Diggory.” She was actually surprised that she was remember the student’s names, and they were remembering her. Or at least so far. SPOILER!!: Shay Quote:

Entering the Potions classroom, she had a smile on her face. It was going to be a good day. Shay was sure of it. "Hello professor", she said cheerfully. The sixth year paused to get a lab coat, before finding an empty seat. She put the protective coat on and sat down. Then she began to prepare for the start of class. ”Hello Miss Morrison.” She nodded to the sixth year. She was very expressed on the earliness of everyone no late arrivals here right? Skipping to the dungeons, the Gryffindor entered the potions lab. "Hello, Professor!" She greeted the potions mistress gleefully. Oh, look! Her new friend was already there. "Hello, Shay. I hope you don't mind if I'm sitting here." Ava said as she sat next to her.
Had Miss Burton, just skipped to her classroom? She couldn’t tell but she had a very strong feeling that she had. She also noted the good mood the girl was in. ”Hello Miss Burton.” SPOILER!!: Noelle Quote:

She waved at everyone as she passed but this being her sixth year, and needing to up her grades in Potions, she didn't stop to chat. That and... she was still trying to get over things personally.
Noelle moved and sat down beside Etta. She grinned at her. "Hey" she said before pulling what she needed out for class. She glanced at the Professor again, trying to get a feeling for the professor.
Another Perfect, they did like to get into the lessons early. She could see that now. ”Thank Miss Summers.” Though she seemed more excited to get to see her friend than being in call. SPOILER!!: Oliver Quote:

But this potions professor didn't look like a had so he figured everything was probably okay. "Hello professor," he greeted cheerfully upon walking into the classroom. Now, where to sit? Next to Noelle, of course. Or across from her really, but at the same table. "Hi Noelle. Hey Etta." He greeted the Hufflepuff prefect who was at the table as well. Olly gave both girls friendly smiles and started readying his station for potions.
[b]”Hello Mister Borzekowski-Thomas.”[b] And she watched him head over to take a seat with the Gryffindor perfect. The workstations were starting to fill up, she looked down at her watch to check the time. SPOILER!!: Kane Quote:

He looked around and spotted Skylar sitting nearby. Since he got the impression from her that she would be annoyed any time he was around and he WASN'T Brent (i.e always) he grinned mischievously and plopped down next to her. "Your favorite Westwood is here!" he chuckled as he unpacked his things.
There was still plenty of time before class was to start. She looked up just as the younger Mister Westwood arrived. ”Hello Mister Westwood.” She smiled at the boy. SPOILER!!: Henry Quote:
Originally Posted by emjay Potions was far from Henry's favorite class. Sure, he liked to relate to cooking in a way and he appreciated that it was a relatively active rather than passive class. But he had a lot of difficulty focusing and often his potions did not turn out as well as they should. He wasn't even sure he was going to continue it at NEWT level, but he was told it was a required course for his intended subject of study at university, something he needed to really start thinking about now. And luckily he passed his Potions OWL with an A that he could continue on.
As he walked into the classroom, Henry first grabbed a lab coat and slipped that on. Taking note of the professor walking around the room, he gave her a nod before looking for a seat. "Good day, Professor." With having new teachers all the time, it was really hard for him to form much of a bond with some of them, though he was always polite, respectful, and friendly to them. He was just glad for the consistency of his head of house. That was most important to him anyway.
Finding an empty seat, he slid around to the back of the work station to sit down. He didn't pay all that much attention to what was already there. It didn't hold a lot of interest to him and he was sure he'd find out what it was soon enough. Instead, he got out his potions kit and waited for class to begin, periodically looking around the room to see who else was there.
Last time she checked Ciara was sure that every house had two perfects but for some reason it felt like every other student arriving was a perfect now. [b]”Good day to you, Mister Whittbrook. SPOILER!!: Aurora Quote:

She took one wrong turning but realized it after only a few steps. And now here she was outside the door to the Potions classroom. She hoped. She blew out a breath and tried to look calm as she walked through the door. She smiled at the professor - she didn't remember all of their names yet - and took a seat at an empty table in the middle of the classroom.
Ciara watched the first year arrive into classroom, at first she thought that she was even going to get a smile, but at least she got that. The Professor returned the smile, perhaps she was just a shy girl. SPOILER!!: Jessa Quote:

Just now, the girl felt like she'd seen nothing but cold walls for miles, when it truth, the walk couldn't have been that far. "Hello Professor." She greeted. Choosing to give the lab coats a try this time around, Jessa slipped into one before moving to the table she and Derf had made their own back in the first week. Etta and Hadley got waves and smiles as she walked by their table. Noelle got a wave too before the girl flopped down into her seat, locking her gaze on the vials. "What happens if we mix these two?" She couldn't have been the only one wondering. "Will we?" ”Hello, Miss Cambridge.” Ciara recalled a young Cambridge girl when she was at Hogwarts, and still seeing the girl she wondered if they were any relation just curious, you know. She smiled, at the young girl. ”I wouldn’t advise that Miss Cambridge. You will soon see what we will be doing with it.” SPOILER!!: Oliver Lupin Quote:

But maybe he was wrong about that. He should Owl Florian and ask him for the sake of his OWLs. He didn't intend for anything to get in the way of his future career.
But he needed to focus on the moment he was in. This was probably his biggest issue with Classes he knew he wasn't great in, his mind would drift to other things and that left very little room for improvement.
It looked like he'd beat Katy here. Which surprised him, she LOVED potions. Sitting at an empty block of chairs the Slytherin sat his books in one of the seats next to him. He'd save her seat. Partially cause it's what best friends were for but also he needed her help in this class for sure. "Hello, Professor." Manners make the man. Or so his grandfather liked to say.
She kept an eye on Miss Cambridge a little longer, until a hello snapped her back, ”Hello Mister Lupin.” She watched as he seemed to be another one of those students who seem more excited to be with their friends than being in a lesson. SPOILER!!: Rooney Quote:
Originally Posted by Shanners As he stepped through the door, Rooney Bronwyn offered the new Professor a welcoming smile before taking a lab coat off a hook. "Good morning, Professor Canterbury. It's a pleasure to have you in our school this year." It was also a nice thing to hopefully have a new lease of life brought to one of Rooney's stronger subjects. As much as he had enjoyed the years spent with Professor Newton, there was always room for improvement and his newest educational discoveries in the subject had came from time he spent with Miss Katherine Toussaint - of all people. Speaking of his best friend, the one he wasn't engaged to, she didn't seem to be here yet.
The presence of her ex, however, was as annoying as any conversation he had ever had about him. It baffled him that the boy hadn't gotten the hint yet that Katy did not want to be with him. Perhaps he had abandonment or attachment issues. Note to self: look closer at that one, new notebook may be required.
As he approached an empty station, room left for anyone that wanted to join him, Rooney switched over his robes to his lab coat. He popped his robes into his extended satchel, careful to leave them folded in a way that wouldn't get too crumpled and pinned his Head Boy badge to the collar of his lab coat. The Ravenclaw was ready.
Teach me. Please.
Then there were people who did seem to be excited about potions, like the head boy here. ”Thank you MIster Bronwyn. It’s nice to be back here.” Positive students were always plus in her book. SPOILER!!: Maxton Quote:

He noticed there were already some vials at the desk. One had some clear liquid and the other had some white sandy looking stuff. Ooooh, were they gonna get to mix these together? What were they going to make!?
The second year fidgeted impatiently as he waiting for the Professor to explain.
Well, someone was really in a hurry to get here and ready. ”Hello Mister Carden, no fear the lesson will be starting soon.” SPOILER!!: Matt Quote:

So he wasn't in a bad mood, which was always a good thing. He still wasn't sure what he really thought of the new Potions professor, but really, she couldn't be all that bad.
He didn't have high expectations anyway because he KNEW noone would be as cool as professor Newt. "Hiya, professor Cadbury." Matt greeted the woman with a grin, purposely getting her name wrong. The Gryffindor decided not to wear the lab coat because ain't nobody got time for that, and he went straight to a workstation in the middle of the classroom. He took the vial with the sandy dust looking substance and held it up at eye level, turning it around a few times to see what would happen.
He was joking right? With the grin he had to be. ”It’s Canterbury. Mister Meriwether.” Just a friendly reminder. It was one thing to really not remember, but to act like you don’t remember as a joke was a total other story. SPOILER!!: Charlotte Quote:

Not that Char tended to dislike any professors. "Hello professor!" Char greeted even as she found an empty table. Safer this way you know, not sitting with the very distracting boyfriend. She got her things set up even before noticing the vials that were already there in each spot. Ooooh.
......Okay she had no clue what these were. Hopefully the task today wouldn't be about identifying what was there because that would mean deep searching in the textbook and honestly it was too early in the school year to be getting that invested in schoolwork.
If some of her more academically inclined friends sat with her, then that wouldn't be a problem though. Here's hoping! Only now did she look around to see who was here and make an effort to wave at people and smile all around. ”Hello Miss Kettleburn.” Should she check the time again? The ones who were already here were starting to look bored, no fear they would be starting soon. SPOILER!!: Tenacius Quote:
Originally Posted by Steelsheen Well he's not gonna deny it, he misses Professor Newton the senior. Gryffindor Head of House, excellent Potions Master, protector of small smart creatures, kindred spirit for all things tea. How can Tenacius not miss a guy like that?
However Potions is also one of his favorite subjects, so the passion to learn is still there. He strides into the Potions classroom with the same spring in his step, the same bright smile on his face. The new Potions Mistress deserves to be greeted as warmly as he does her predecessor "Hullo Professor Canterbury!" he says as he walks by her, then grabs his lab coat and proceeds to take his usual spot by the table, next to the Dazzling Denaker. ”Hello Mister Salander.” She smiled, and give him a nod as he passed her desk. SPOILER!!: Abey Quote:
Originally Posted by Felixir Unfortunately for Abey, even though Potions was a mostly practical subject, it required reading instructions and knowing ingredients (which required more reading) and making precise measurements (which Abey was terrible at because he kept mixing things like numbers up all the time) and remembering things (yeah... no). He always dreaded Potions actually, and avoided it as and when he could. Except, well... it was a new term, and his shocking attendance had been noted last year after all, and even though nobody at home had been upset with him last year on account of the whole MONSTER thing at the forefront of everyone's minds, he didn't really want to risk upsetting them this term.
.......... Okay, but maybe he had still been skipping the odd class here and there. Maybe. But he would CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN that he hadn't been feeling very well at those times. It just so happened to always occur at the same times as the classes he was terrified of going to, mhmm. Just a coincidence actually.
But he was at Potions today, because, you know, he wanted to be BRAVE like the Gryffindor he so begrudgingly was and at least give it a go. Even so, he was very quiet as he joined the classroom at the same time as a large crowd of other students (because there was no way he was ever hanging around Hogwarts without at least a million people nearby). After locating a space that wasn't so near the front that the professor was sure to notice him, but not so far back that it was clear he was avoiding being noticed and drawing attention that way, Abey took a seat. Today, even though he knew it was terribly impolite, he decided not to verbally greet the professor, but did at least send a smile her way. An apologetic smile almost, because he knew he was going to do terribly in class today, and apologies would be necessary at some point, probably actually.
But those vials though, they caught Abey's attention quickly enough. Naturally, he poked them, to see if they did anything, before leaving them alone and waiting for class to start.
Another student who didn’t speak, but at least she got a smile from him, which was better than nothing. She returned his smile, however.”Hello Mister Botros.” SPOILER!!: Olivia Quote:

It was sufficient to say that she was raised better than that, and there was little doubt her mother would've been abreast of any rudeness. That cow... "Professor." First Year Liv might've flailed and bounced at the new, pretty face with both hands...but this was an older, more mature Olivia Phillips. More mature, and PMS'ing. So... ahem, forgive the blonde for that one. As she slipped into her lab coat, Liv had to wonder why she'd even bothered making the journey down all those stairs. Hopefully her mood would improve, but considering the cramps...
Also... these vials... Hm. What was all this about? It was cute, too, that parchment had been provided, but then again... Olivia suspected they might be charmed. Provided notes? If she shot Aparecium! at it, would the potion of the day magically appear?! That would be been super helpful. If not, what a missed opportunity. ”Hello Miss Phillips.” She watched the girl take her seat., then she checked her watch again, time was ticking down. SPOILER!!: Levi Quote:

Waves and smiles were given to friends and acquaintances alike as the boy strolled to join Kettleburn at her workstation of choice. He dropped his messenger bag, pushed up his glasses and shrugged into the lab coat. He smiled his house mate but his attention was largely focused on the vials and...powder?
Okay. He blinked. "I was gonna tell you something but I can't remember what it was anymore." Probably hadn't been important, then. Hopefully. He smiled, took out his self-inking quill and journal. "Anyway--Hiya, Kettleburn."
Oh she had almost forgotten to get a set of vials for herself she got up and grabbed her a set ”Hello, and Good morning to you too, Mister Kenning.” She gave him a solemn nod. SPOILER!!: Kirk Quote:

She was on her way back to her desk when another student walked in, ”Hello Mister Forsfelle.” SPOILER!!: Emmeline Quote:

She snagged an apron and slipped it over her head upon entering the classroom; she just knew she was going to spill something in this class one of these days.
Emmeline had learned very quickly that Potions was not going to be her best subject. It required focus, attention to detail, and handling delicate materials with care -- none of these things really sat well with Emmeline. She preferred classes where she could use her wand and there were lots of exciting things happening all the time! Or Care of Magical Creatures for obvious reasons. "Good morning, Professor!" Emmeline smiled brightly at the Potions teacher as she looked around for a seat. She didn't know a lot of people yet, so she decided to sit with a Housemate. She was sure she'd feel better about being Sorted into Gryffindor if she had older friends in her House.
She noticed a boy who looked around her age and was wearing the telltale red robes sitting in the middle of the room (Abey). Making her way over to his table, she smiled slightly as she slid into a seat at his table. "Hi! Mind if I sit here?" If he did, she would just move before the professor started talking.
She sat back down at her desk before she would close the door and start the lesson. ”Good Morning Miss Sparkes.” She smiled at the girl. SPOILER!!: Daisy Carden Quote:

Coming from the dark, glum corridor, it was impossible not to notice the brightness of the room and the Slytherin looked around. That was ... weird. Kind of good, but weird. Anyway. "Morning, Professor." She cheerfully greeted the woman as soon as she got used to the lightness, and grabbed a lab coat. Lab coats were, honestly, awesome. She always felt like she knew more than she actually did whenever she had one on. Moving across the room, she smiled and waved at her friends. There was possibly still some catching up to do with some of them but there was a younger brother to annoy. She did, however, send Henry the Prefect a wink -- he was Prefect, did you know??? Her teammate was a Prefect like ... wow -- and squeezed the best friend's shoulder as she walked past him. "Morning, L." Again, anyway. And then -- "Maxxie!" She stood next to her brother at the workstation will a full grin as she dropped her bag on the bench. Not even bothering to look at what was on the table -- she would find out soon enough, she was sure --, she proceeded to remove her robes and roll up the sleeves of her uniform shirt, before putting on the lab coat. "You look adorable in that, you know? I feel like I should take a picture to send Mum." Next lesson, perhaps.
Seeing miss Carden arrive she really didn’t realize how many siblings were here at school together. It was nice to have her brother here while they were students. He had her always doing his homework though. ”Good Morning to you as well, Miss Carden.”
Seeing the first year arrive, ”Thank you, Miss Smith. I’m glad you are excited. I do hope you enjoy it” She smiled brightly at the girl. Young minds, they were always excited about everything. SPOILER!!: Theo Quote:

He would try and not cause any explosions today. Paying attention and following instructions and all that fun stuff.
But well there was no promises.
And next to Abey he goes with a smile. ”Hello Mister Montmorency.” She watched as he went and joined Mister Botros, hopefully that would help him open up a little bit more. SPOILER!!: Junia Quote:

"Hello Professor." See? Trying.
After slipping into a lab coat, the brunette made her way quickly and quietly to an empty seat. Her instinct was to sit with Abey, but she was walking a fine line between looking after him, and keeping him from getting to figure things out on his own. Instead she settled on a table beside the Gryffindor, giving him a proper smile and wave. She was there if he needed her.
After unpacking her things, the fourth year observed the contents of the vials and waited for class to start. Should be soon, yes? ”Hello Miss Botros. You’re hair looks very nice today.” It really did, normally she would have not commented on such thing but she knew the fourth year her would have loved to have one of her professors comment on her hair. SPOILER!!: Derf Quote:

Entering the classroom, Derf's eyes immediately found Abey...but it seemed that Theo and Emmeline were already in competition of sorts for the seat next to him. Probably wouldn't be a good idea for them to sit next to each other anyway. Not in this class at least.
Waving brightly to the professor and offering her a chipper "Good day," as he continued to lug his enchanted suitcase around the room looking for a proper open seat, Derf smiled at Elora and nearly took a seat beside her until he spotted Jessa. "Explore the grounds-s with me after class-s-s?" he asked a but hurriedly, taking a bit of a stuttered step as he tried to mask his last minute decision to not sit with her.
His question was no less sincere, for the record.
Finally making his way to Jessa - oh hopping grasshoppers...did he need a lab coat? - he plopped himself beside her. "Looks-s-s like water to me," he said with a shrug as he picked up his own vial and quickly uncorked the top to smell it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. "Does-s it s-smell like water to you?" he asked, shoving the vial right under Jessa's nose for her to smell. He couldn't tell and clearly needed a second opinion on the matter. He was still working on having a sense of smell like a crup.
Retrieving a lab coat was already forgotten, thank you Jessa Cambridge. Too much curiosity about the clear liquid distracting from other thoughts.
Mister Ashburry-Hawthorne seemed to be in high spirits today, ”Hello Mister Ashburry-Hawthorne.” She hadn’t quite gotten to really know the students well, she watched as the second year lugged a suitcase into her classroom. Was there a point to this? As long as he didn’t break anything or disturb her lesson with it she was find with it. She was also going to keep an eye on him with the vials as well. Good thing it wasn’t anything harmful to smell. SPOILER!!: Zarnia Quote:

Zarina saw through the opening that students were already sitting there. "Nerds.." she muttered under her breath. As Zae walked through the door, she saw the Professor was there. She gave a polite small smile and waved to her. "Hello Professor." Now time to do the awkward thing. Trying to find a seat.
Zarina was debating whether to sit away from people or sit with another. She didn't really have any friends yet, so she figured she could sit by herself. She placed down her books and backpack and took out her notebook and began to doodle. She saw there were test tubes in her station and she wondered what could be in it. ”Hello Miss Carraro” She stood up. She thought she would slowly mosey over to the door, it was getting closer to time for the lesson to begin. SPOILER!!: Stasya Quote:

Kind of like the chocolate frog dilemma on the train, she just had to convince herself that she wasn’t hurting them. Usually she tried to do that on the walk down to the dungeons, just to avoid getting hopelessly far behind in the actual lessons. Another thing she was just going to have to get better at. There were just so many distractions.
“Good morning Professor Canterbury,” she’d greeted the woman sitting behind the desk, even as she’d slipped on a lab coat. Time to focus. Except…where to sit? There were way too many options. Part of her wanted to sit with Emmeline and her housemates, another wanted to sit with Derf and Jessa. She’d stopped in the doorway with wide eyes, caught up in her dilemma, but then she made a decision.
She went over and sat at the table with Noelle and Etta. Older people hopefully meant they could help if she got lost, or at least she hoped so. Plus, it was one of her prefects. So that meant it was even more likely. She guessed.
Or she could just stay here for a little bit longer the students were still coming in, ”Hello and Good morning, Miss Dalgaard-Volkova.” She smiled at the girl SPOILER!!: Katy Quote:

"Good day, Professor. It's almost sunny in here. Is it a charm?" Or just Katy's smile, because she was in a ridiculous mood.
As she slipped past Rooney, Katy poked at that ridiculous badge he'd managed to stick to his lap coat. Of course he did. Everyone needed to see his bling. "Mild prat behavior there, Head Boy. But I'm behaving. Pinky promise."
She parked her bag on the seat next to Oliver, bumping his books off into his lap with her hip. "Budge over, Lupin. You're only allowed one seat in here." And look. Phials already on the desk. Just waiting for them to explore. Katy dropped her chin to the desk top and stared at the phials intently. Class couldn't start soon enough for her.
Now Ciara was going to get up and make her way to the door. It was soon getting closer the time for the lesson to start, and she was ready to begin. She moved around the room, and almost walked right into Miss Toussaint. ”Oh Hello Miss Toussaint. It is, with a little bit of better lighting and some very good interior designing concepts.” Not that she understood the interior design stuff, her friend and worked on that with her. Making her way down to the dungeons, the fifth year stepped into the potions classroom taking in her surroundings. “Good day, Professor,” she greeted with a smile as she spotted the woman, grabbing her own lab coat to put on as she debated where to head.
There was Kimi, Hadley…and Mason. Jessa from the feast. Rooney, Olivia, Charlotte…and Levi.
She finally made her way towards Olivia. The Gryffindor seemed to be a tad under the weather or something so perhaps just being a present friend was something to be. “Hey,” Cassie greeted the other girl as she took her seat, pausing as she noticed the vials. Interesting…very interesting. “Any guess on the topic of the day?” she mused absently. ”Good Morning Miss McNally” She passed the ravenclaw girl, she straightened out the remain lab coats on the hooks. She was actually surprised by the amount of students that had grabbed one. SPOILER!!: Sam Quote:

Going over to grab a lab coat and slipping it on over her Gryffindor robes, she greeted Not Newton with a "Good day Professor."
Heading off to the table where her cousin sat, she made sure to sit empty seat beside him. Giving him a small nudge by way of greeting, she placed a small block of cheese on the table, like she normally did, before inspecting the vials on the table. "What do you think this is?"
She smiled at the Gryffindor girl who arrived next Hello Miss Swynford." SPOILER!!: Jonas Quote:

"Hey Professor" he said and grabbed a table. ”Mister Emery, Have a seat will be starting shortly” As she had predict some students were just too curious…. SPOILER!!: Jessa and Derf
QUOTE=DaniDiNardo;12209598] The vials on her table held most of her attention, with the rest being on the Professor she was waiting to get her question answered. It hadn't said they couldn't touch these, which ruled out anything that could cause immediate...or long term harm for that matter. Either that or the Professor felt the students had a firm sense of self denial and wouldn't be giving into their curiosity. Let's just say it was best to stow such beliefs in future. Derf's appearance and subsequent adding of fuel to her curiosity fire was reason enough.
Forgetting she'd even asked the Professor a question, Jessa turned eagerly to her friend, waiting to see what would come of his sniffing. The girl was mildly taken aback when the vial was suddenly placed under her nose but no less willing to have a sniff than her friend had been. "I dunno. The chemicals in here always mess with my nose a little. I might be smelling this but I could just as easily be smelling the other one down on the table." Whiiiiiiiiiich pretty much only left one of VERY FEW things to be done. "Taste it. Tell me what it feels like going down your throat and I might be able to figure something out." Perfectly logical. "We'll both have a taste." She nudged the vial back to him for him to have first go--not because she was skeptical or unwilling to take the risk herself (that was never the case, the girl would sooner test on herself than others if she could) but because with him there was never a worry of who went first. Both were equally curious, dangerously so, making it less urgent who decided to have a taste first. Most other times people were too scared to go first, forcing her to give demonstration herself but not him. They were on par with testing things.[/QUOTE] Quote:

He had watched his little sister get acquainted with LOADS of things by using her mouth and mum had told him that that was just what babies did when they were experimenting AND, by potioneer standards, he and Jessa were totally babies. So what Jessa suggested made total sense.
"OKAY!" he chirped with a nod, although he did return the one containing the clear liquid to the stand and instead grabbed the one with the white sandy stuff in it. "Gonna try this-s-s one first," he nodded. It sort of looked like sugar and that tasted good. Although he was struck with a thought. "You think this-s-s is ground up somefing? OH LIKE...thes-s-se are both SUPER important and RARE ingredients-s-s?!" he asked as he uncorked that one and set the cork on the counter top. So rare that the professor had to provide them with them rather than them grinding stuff up or extracting themselves?! Because NEAT!
Glancing back up at Jessa, he caught Elora and Abey looking and waving at him when he looked past Jessa's head (she only had one today, for the record) and returned an eager wave to them both before blue eyes were back on the vial in his hand. Licking his thumb first, Derf covered the lid with his thumb's pad and tipped it upside down. Shaking it up and down a few times to make sure he had achieved a thin coating of...whatever this white dusty stuff was...he turned it right side up and returned it to the stand.
THUMBS UP FOR EXPERIMENTAL TASTE TESTING!
Giving his thumb a lick, he smacked his lips together loudly while trying to spread ...whatever it was all across his tongue.
HMMMMMMMMM....
"I dunno," he confessed with a light shoulder shrug. Quote:

Was it time yet? Was everyone here now?
Derf opting to try the white sandy thing naturally meant the clear liquid was hers to have a go at. Once more Jessa took a whiff of it, trying to take a second guess as to what this may have been but when her brain was still coming up blank--a frustrating thing in truth--there was only so much left to be done.
In sync with the raising of the vial Derf had taken, Jessa lifted her own to her lips. On the off chance these WERE super rare, the girl didn't go gulping this down. No more than a sip....and a second to be sure whatever the flavour, it spread evenly across her tongue. "...Huh." A taste later and she was no more certain than Derf seemed to be. The young girl licked at her lips, sure not to waste even a drop but not even that could make this really conclusive. "Curious."
Of course there was nothing dangerous, in any of the vials. Had no one taught them the safety of potions? Apparently not. ”Miss Cambridge and Mister Ashburry-Hawthorne, never drink or taste something in my class again, without permission. You never know what it might be. And in some cases taking a smell could be harmful.” That actually went for all of the students. She never put something in front the students that was harmful. ”Just be more aware of what you are doing.” This was by far worst then the spilt potion and the school uniforms at Ilvermorny. These Hogwarts kids though no wonder then seen to find trouble year after year. SPOILER!!: Leesha Quote:

Stopping before the professor she smiled friendly. “Hello professor” she said but then her attention was caught by the two vials and she already had he mouth open to ask a question when she changed her mind and just walked toward a place to sit because, of course, the professor would probably explain it soon enough!
She was at the door just as another student arrived ”Miss Griffel Just in time, now we can get started.”
After greeting the last student she moved to the door, checking time once more before officially starting, then looked down the corridor for any stragglers, yes she remembered how hard the trek was from the seventh floor. But if they were late it was bad she shut the door. The door clicked closed following by the clicking of her heels as she moved to the front of the classroom. “Welcome today’s potions lesson, everyone.. I want to get right into this lesson this morning.” Without further explanation she started off with a very simple question.“What are some ingredients that you think is in an invisibly potion? Feel free to think outside of the box.” She loved hearing things that were not traditional or outside of the box It give her a chance to see just how creative her students really were. OOC: Thanks for coming! Class has officially started so please keep the chatter to a minimum. And if you haven't posted your charrie in here and want to, please feel free to jump right in and pretend as though they've been here the entire time. You're more than welcome to have your charrie make things up/guess as well
I will be moving the class along again in roughly 24 hours.
