Slate did not realize how long the boatride and the sorting took until this very instant. He could practically hear his stomach growling.

He groaned outloud and glanced across the table to look at his dormmate. "Did it take this long last year?" he asked. Maybe he should have eaten more on the train. He thought he'd had plenty given everyone he ran into seemed to shove food in his direction.

Not that he minded, if being friends with girls meant free food and free sports games, he would not complain.
