The second year could not believe his luck in finding Emmeline so quickly on the platform. "Stasya!" he chirped, grabbing Emmeline's hand and dragging her along with him as he bound towards his friend. "WelcometotheHogwartsExpressI'msogladyouarefinallya tHogwartsandOperationGoat!" Right, he should probably take a breath or something. Letting go of Emmeline's hand, Derf took it upon himself to stand between the two of them. "Stasya, this is Emmeline. S-She is new too AND likes-s Scamander. S-Said he was cool. Emmeline, this is-s-s Stasya. I'm going to help her s-sneak a goat into Hogwarts this year. Probably borrow one from one of the many kept in Hogs-s-smeade." Arms stretched out in either direction to the girls, Derf brought his hands together in one quick loud clap.
Officially friends, okay? Okay!
"Chocolate frog?" he offered, fishing a few packets out of his pocket and offering one to each - because friends that ate chocolate together stayed together. And a chocolate a day kept the dementors away! "As-s-s long as-s I can maybe s-s-see what card you got first?" In case he didn't already have it so he could add it to his collection. "OH! We could...have a hopping race...!" Although now he wished he had found Chloe too so she could join in. He knew how much she liked the hopping charm placed on the confection.

Glancing around the compartment, she noticed a squirrel -- cute! -- in the luggage rack. Before she could say anything about the squirrel, she was distracted by Derf's talking about a goat. "A goat?! That sounds like fun!" Because sneaking any creature into Hogwarts sounded like fun to her, and she'd never gotten to see a goat up close before! She wondered if she could help...
Distracted from thoughts of goats by the chocolate frog -- her favorite! -- in Derf's hand, she grinned at him. "Thanks, Derf! A race would be AWESOME! Only..." She looked at the girl who wasn't Stasya in the compartment guiltily. "D'you want part of mine? What's your name?" Setting Minerva's cage down on an empty seat behind her, she moved further into the compartment so that they could include the girl in their circle. Quote:

It was something of a hassle not losing him in this sea of students eagerly moving about to meet their friends and it was a miracle she'd seen him duck into that compartment at all.
"Sweet Merlin, Derf, you're really putting those longer legs to good use." One of them had had something of a growth spurt over the summer, unfortunately that someone wasn't her and she was ridiculously jealous about it. How had all her friends managed to achieve some growth but not her? Sure she'd likely gained an inch....but that inch had been on it's way before she'd left school back in June so it didn't really count.
Oh! He had company! Company and chocolate frogs. "Hello!" She chirped, taking the spot next to him. "You lot are First Years, aren't you?" Either that or transferred Second Years who'd also skipped a growth spurt. Both quite likely at this point. "Who's getting a goat?" And what were they doing? Quote:

She had been about to introduce herself when another voice broke into the relative silence of the compartment, and she’d grinned as Derf had burst into the room, dragging another girl after him. That had made her curious, and it had made Dobby curious too as the squirrel scampered partway down from the luggage rack even as his blonde mistress had jumped up and hugged Derf. “I’msogladI’mfinallyatHogwartstooandI’mexcitedabou tOperationGoattoo,” she said in a rush, backing away as he had suddenly gone into introduction mode. She’d sent Emmeline a grin, though. “Scamander is definitely cool,” she agreed, before turning to look at Derf again. “Are there really goats in Hogsmeade?” That would make things even easier, even if she figured they’d have to find out what the care of magical creatures professor might think. Just to make sure.
She’d looked over at Dobby again for a second, before turning back at the mention of chocolate frogs. On the one hand, chocolate, but on the other she wasn’t sure if eating them was being mean. Like if it was sort of like eating a real frog, but if Derf was okay with it she figured it was okay. “Sure,” she said, taking the packet from him. “And course you can see the card…” She blinked as Emmeline noticed Aurora and offered to share her frog. “Oh. This is Aurora. She’s a first year too.
And she trailed off again as another person came into the compartment, giggling a little. Well, this was one way to meet people. “Mhm. And Derf and I are getting a goat. It’s our mission.” Since she asked.
Isa was walking through the train, peeping into compartments looking for certain friends of hers. She carried her two rabbits in their carrier cage that had 2 compartments. Each rabbit had a food bowl and water bottle. When she arrived at Hogwarts she would get them settled into their larger permanent homes, but for now they were going to have to stay in their confined temporary transport cage. The rabbits were allowed to come with her to Hogwarts, but they would have to stay in the barn.
Spotting just the people she was wanting to see in a crowded compartment, Isa burst in with her rabbits. No plants this time as all of her plants had been safely stored in the luggage compartment. As much as she loved her plants, she couldn't carry rabbits and plants at the same time, and she didn't want to scare Derf. "Hi Derf! Hi Stasya! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Isa. Third year Hufflepuff." Isa smiled at everyone. It was good to be back with her friends. "Guess what? I got permission to bring my rabbits to Hogwarts! They have to stay in the barn."
After setting her rabbit cage down, she opened up her bag and pulled out a book titled Pygmy Goats as Pets. "This is for you, Stasya." Isa handed the goat book over to Stasya. Naturally, Derf was involved in the goat plot too. Isa was not at all surprised. "So, have you figured out where you can get a goat from and what kind of goat?" Isa liked the idea of a pygmy goat. They were small and cute. Maybe it was a bad idea, but Isa was all for helping Derf sneak creatures into Hogwarts.
