Oooh, goats! Isa had read books about goats because she found a book about goat husbandry in Dad's shop! She was by no means a goat expert though. "What kind of goat do you want? Just as a pet or for meat or dairy? There are lots of different breeds of goats that are bred for different purposes. Do you have a space where you could keep a goat?" Probably not a meat goat. There were also fancy mohair and cashmere goats. Isa started mentally calculating the amount of space that was required to keep a goat and how much food it would need and how she might get one. She lived in a mostly rural area where there were many farm fields nearby. There were plenty of sheep around, but she wasn't sure if she knew of any goat farms. With a bit of research she would probably be able to find one. Hmmm. Yeah, they could totally make this work. She needed to make sure that Stasya would have a place to keep it though. Couldn't just help any random person acquire a goat. Goat owners needed to be responsible and provide the right living conditions for the goat. Could you have just one goat? Did they need goat friends? More things to research. Oh, puppies? Puppies were so cute! A lot of work though. "What kind of puppy? How old is it?" Isa was still thinking about goats. ”Nice to meet you too,” Stasya had said back with a grin, still letting her eyes travel over the accessories that were on display around where they were. There had to be something she could buy for Dobby, even if she was supposed to try and only spend the money she’d been given on stuff for school. A scarf or something for Dobby was something school-related. Her attention had gone back to Isa as the girl had asked, though. “His name is Dobby.” Like the elf.
At least she hadn’t gotten the normal reaction to her saying she wanted a goat. It immediately made her feel way more comfortable with the older girl, although her eyes had widened as she had started asking all sorts of questions. “Not to eat…,” she interrupted, almost insulted by the implication. That’d be like someone asking if she wanted to eat Dobby. Or the ducks she’d befriended back home. “There’s room back home if I got one.” She’d find somewhere to keep it if she got one. That wasn’t something she worried about. She’d proven she could take care of animals. “Well, actually it’s a crup. I think we were s’posed to give it back a long time ago but papa sort of had to go away for a while and we didn’t know who it was for so we still have it? It’s still a baby.” Actually, she wasn’t really sure how old it was. Papa had just said she could help her take care of it.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw another boy wandering closer and trailed off in her explanation about papa’s crup. “Hi!,” she said to him with a smile.
