The Divination stairwell is one of the largest staircases in the entire Hogwarts castle. It is a narrow, spiralling set of stairs that is accessible from a corridor on the seventh floor. At the top of the staircase is a small landing with a trap door on the ceiling, from which a ladder can be ascended to allow access to the Divination Classroom. A portrait of a group of women in crinolines hangs near the bottom of the stairwell, while a painting of sinister-looking monks near the top. Rumor has it that it takes five minutes to get from the bottom of the stairwell to the Fat Lady's Corridor.
Thinking of the students safety Professor Vance has had the caretaker put up some charms in place to make sure no unlucky student falling over the staircase by accident will get hurt. At the bottom of the stairwell a small resting group of a handful of pink beanbags and cushioned benches can be found and used by anyone going up or down on the stairwell.
