Luckily she would have her muggle students to occupy her time. “Oh, that’s so wonderful to hear, Ms Valentine! I am very proud of you and the efforts you make to befriend muggles.’’ Surely with persons like Kitty to lead the way with this, others would follow her example.
“So, tell me. How did you meet them? Did you spend a lot of summer with them?’’ "At first I just sort of drifted around shopping centers and watched them." It sounded awkward when she said it like that, but it had been awhile since she'd been around so many muggles and she would have felt awkward to just plunge in. "No one really talked to me then, though some made comments about my gothic outfits as they passed by. I think it might have weirded a few people out, but I don't care." There was no way she'd change her lifestyle just because it made people feel strange. "Still, I liked hanging around those places, even if I wasn't talking to anyone. Then one day I was walking by one of the places in the mall, and there were people doing Yoga inside." Kay knew so much about Muggles that Kitty knew she knew what Yoga was. "It looked very peaceful, and there were lots of Muggles of all ages there. I watched how they didn't talk during the lesson but afterward you could tell they were all friends, or at least friendly. So I decided I would take Yoga too. At first I felt out of place being the only one to wear a cape or hoodie to class. Eventually I decided to wear the more typical Yoga clothes, but only black or purple. It's really quite fun, and I occasionally do it at Hogwarts by myself." "After a few lessons, people started asking me questions and I started getting to know some of them. I can honestly say right now that I love them and they love me. Of course I feel guilty about not telling them who I am, but oh well." She sighed a little sadly. "Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing them again next summer, but I'm happy to be back at Hogwarts. I really missed you and your classes too." And all her other friends and classes, of course - though Muggle Studies was her favorite.
Kitty settled herself more comfortably in her chair. "Hey Professor, I was wondering...what do you think of Carlotta Pinkstone?" |
