Was that a rhetorical question? "Yes!" She deadpanned, looking at him with one eyebrow raised upwards. Daisy had only known him for almost a term and yet she already knew that, given the right circumstances, he was perfectly capable of doing just that. The boy outGryffindor'd every single Gryffindor that had ever lived. She couldn't really help the small chuckle that escaped at his words. Look at him there, almost giddy at the thought of sending the Headmistress a Howler. Honestly, if that wasn't reckless, then someone give her a dictionary.

As for her parents, she thought on it for a little while before shrugging lightly. "Well, I don't think they would tell me even if they did get into trouble." It wouldn't be very parenty of them, would it? Maybe they had gotten into trouble, but she had no way of confirming or denying that. Still, Noelle was a Prefect and at times she was quite ... insane.

"Do you mean you don't know anyone's birthday?" She asked him, genuinely surprised. It was impossible to memorise the birthdays of everyone one knew, of course, but surely he could handle a few? Maybe he just didn't care. Daisy watched him with a smile and nodded to herself. Yes, he probably wouldn't care about something as trivial as that.

At that moment, however, she would rather try and memorise the birthdays of every single one of Hogwarts' students than be there. Matt suddenly had a whole lot to say and as soon as he mentioned the date, Daisy opened her mouth, ready to interrupt him. But he was still talking, loads, so she closed it again and listened, trying to keep her eyes on him and not on the floor. Her hands twitched nervously as he spoke and she unconsciously started gnawing on her lower lip. So. She had made a mess out of things, hadn't she?

Oh. She had really made a mess out of things.

"Okay, look. You're right." She finally started after he said his piece. "We went on a date and it was really fun." She wouldn't deny that, not that she could, anyway. He knew they had had fun. That bit was simple. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut for a second and massaged her temple as if that would relieve the headache that was forming. He wasn't wrong, she had said that, and that part was definitely on her. If she was completely honest with herself, for once, she would admit to knowing that saying ... what she had said ... was a mistake the moment she opened her mouth. "But I don't think we like each other the same way." She murmured, quietly. No. She had thought that; but now, after the kiss, she was pretty sure. "And I like that you're that straightforward! It cuts through a lot of unnecessary stuff." Honestly, before all this mess, she had believed herself to also be quite straightforward. Clearly, age was changing that.

Why did he keep asking that?? And mentioning that word???

Cursing under her breath, Daisy did look down at her feet then. Okay. He wanted her to be blunt and keep things simple, right? No beating around the bush. Right, she could do that. Looking back up at him, she straightened her shoulders and slowly started shaking her head. "No, I don't." Pretty straightforward, eh? "I thought maybe I would .. one day?? But then you kissed me and ...." She shrugged once more, not really knowing what to say. It felt normal and I do not have time for normal. That just sounded mean, however truthful it might be. It was true, though. She had OWLs coming up and then summer would kick in and it'd be a whirlwind of practices, games, workouts and family. And however trivial that all sounded, it wasn't for her and she refused to get distracted over something she wasn't wholeheartedly commited to. Another sigh. "I think we're better off as friends. We're good at that." Well, had been, because this was probably going to put a stop to that.

"I'm sorry."
