Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door Daisy was a bit perplexed by Declan's reaction. Given the fact that the boy had cast a binding spell, almost immediately after coming back from wherever he had gone to, to keep her from sharing what had happened, she thought he would be happy with her determination in keeping their secret. However, he seemed almost disappointed. "Declan, you're being terribly confusing." She told him quietly, leaning away from him and looking around.
If he wanted her to share what she had seen, after all, she was perfectly capable of doing just that. No matter how much she didn't want to.
Tree was a terrible name for a dog, anyway. "Well, if I ever win anything in Quidditch, I'll be sure to thank Chaser for the inspiration." She added with a chuckle, looking at him again. Obviously, she had to since her pretend rune had said Chaser was the reason for her career choice. It was probably a good idea not to mention that to Dad, though. Talking of Quidditch did remind her of something and she quickly looked down at the Ancient Runes textbooks. Declan, in-touch-with-the-Gods-Declan, could prove to be useful in the future. "So," She started, very nonchalantly, as if she had no further intent behind her words other than curiosity. "can you curse people?"
It was good practice to keep a list of what your acquaintances -- friends???-- could do. You never knew when it could be useful, after all.
Besides, she hadn't been lying or exaggerating. She did honestly find him fascinating, with his mysterious powers and incredible knowledge of ancient magic. Whether he wasn't used to hearing that or he was just surprised she thought that of him, she couldn't tell, but she did her best to hold his gaze and send him an encouraging smile. He had invoked an ancient God the first time they met. That stuff left marks, okay?
Like the spell.
She nodded. "I know. No warm feeling this time." Which was a lie and she realised that as soon as the words left her mouth. She flushed, embarrassed. It had felt different to the spell, though. He did release her hand then, and it moved to her side of the table, stretching slightly. "It's fine. I was half-teasing." About the spell he could've cast then, not about the punching because that would still happen. She hadn't taken up boxing only because it would make her stronger. "Yeah, hands do that sometimes." She heard herself saying, much to her own dismay. NO THEY DIDN'T. What was she on about? Moving on, then. He hadn't really given her permission to ask any more questions but he definitely knew he could always tell her to bugger off, so she continued, even if only to cover up her awkwardness. Besides, she was genuinely curious about this. "Do you think everyone is capable of doing that? Being that connected to their magic and borrowing from others?" |
