Why was she still talking? Nat was going in and out of listening. She heard every word but agreed with only parts of it. She knew better than to show what shew as truly feeling so she just let the old numbing feeling go over her as she sat and took what was being given to her. Yes, yes disappointing to her hear. Yes, Nat was very use to being a disappointment. She was beginning to think the headmistress and her mother could get on pretty well. She could even see them having tea and talking about what a disappointment that she was. How she ruined all things around her. It could be a good time for the two.
She looked at the woman as she continued to talk and nodded here and there to show she was listening. "I can walk away instead of saying something wrong or I could just go with what they are saying if need be." She wasn't five she knew what the better choices were. She knew what to say and do, but at that moment she couldn't and didn't. Everything had hit a wall and she blew up, she knew that, but it just wasn't worth saying. No one truly understood where she had come from, what she was going through. So instead of trying to talk about it she just accepted whatever fate the headmistress gave.
