He was a big guy.. toads were small and cages would make them better to handle!
The wand motion seemed pretty simple, just a simple jab at the target.. so he only practiced that a few times! Didn't need to go overboard on a simple things..
Next he tried out the Incantation itself.. "Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo..In-car-col-VO, In-car-col-VO!" He rolled the word around on his tongue, making sure he got it correct..
Now it was time to put them together.
He closed his eyes for a moment, centering himself before opening them and then jabbing his wand at his toad and saying "Incarcolvo! "
Sure enough... a netting shot out from his wand and encapsulated his toad, turning into a small perfect cage as it touched the ground..
Chinese Fireballs that was cool!
This was the time when Camilla always walked around. Up and down the rows of students or well in this case she did more of a zig-zag motion through the grass depending on where someone was sat. "Very nicely done, Mr Kenendy." She smiled nodding her approval before moving on. SPOILER!!: Tenacius! Quote:

.... And finally he's back. Just in time for the Professor to start with the discussion. Honestly he wasnt quite sure what they were really using the toads for and as for the casual wear-- well heck he felt this is what they should wear everyday for school. So he stayed quiet for that question, besides Quark was getting excited seeing the Lake so close by now, and he had to make sure his toad wouldnt escape.
Ok time to do some spell practice "Incarcolvo....".
To say Cami was surprised with the speed that Tenacius moved with in getting his toad from his dorm would have been an understatement. The boy was gone and back in a matter of just a few quick minutes and hardly missed a thing. This earned him a very approving nod and smile. It wasn't a problem that he didn't answer the question as he probably needed to catch his breath but she was happy to see him working on the spell now. SPOILER!!: Oliver! Quote:

If I tried to trap Noelle, for example, could it tell the size of what is being captured and be larger if it had to? Also, I was wondering how this is transfiguration?" It was probably pretty simple but Olly was just wondering at the moment. Didn't transfiguration involve changing one thing into another? This seemed more like just confusing something from nothing. Was that transfiguration too?
Okay he was ready to start practicing now. What was the incantation again? Incarcolvo? There were a lot of different sounds in it. Olly said it aloud a few times to make sure he could say it properly. He wanted to practice without the frog so Alfred wouldn't just hop away, but he realized he wasn't sure if that would work. Olly raised his hand again. "Will the net still make a cage even if we're not trying to capture anything?" It sort of related to his earlier question too. If it did work, how would it know how big too be if there was nothing to put inside it.
Oh, questions! The Transfiguration professor came to a stop near Olly as she walked around. "Very very good questions in which I will do my best to give you straight answers for." The best she could anyhow. Transfiguration was a tough subject to understand and explain at times due to all the different branches of the subject. "The size of the net has to do with your focus and intent as well as what you are capturing. Since this is only a toad the net doesn't need to be very large but say you did try to capture Miss Summers...which I don't recommend,"she laughed softly before continuing, "If the intent, focus and strength was there the net would grow around her to height. However this is best used on smaller animals or objects." She hoped that made some sense to him as for his next question that was more complicated. "It's a simpler form of transformation and conjuration. While you aren't entirely doing the transforming yourself the intent is there and takes place once the creature is captured." There was a lot involved with Transfiguration. She would let him continue to work on the spell now and carry on checking on the rest of the students. SPOILER!!: Harriet! Quote:

There would be no point being at school if she didn't want to learn lesson. Obviously she was going to try and not get eaten by some monsters, but she was also pretty excited about learning new spells too. Hattie listened intently, wanting to get all the information she could. She didn't like failing too much, so wanted to make sure that she knew everything about the spell before she started trying to cast it.
First of all she practiced jabbing her wand in front of her, wanting to make sure that they got the wand movement right. That was the right thing to do. Because she wouldn't get the spell right if she didn't have the wand movement right. She spend a few minutes doing that, and that was good. She was pretty confident that she could do the wand movement. Now onto the incantation.
She spent the next few minutes repeating the incantation. "Incarcolvo" She said, and then repeated it a few times. It felt a little weird in her mouth, but after a few attempts she was pretty sure she could do the spell. Or at least that she was saying it right anyway. She repeated it a few more times, just to make sure that she was saying it right.
Hattie now stepped forward, and tried to put the incantation and the wand movement together. She spied her toad, jabbed her wand in it's direction, and then said "Incarcolvo" And nothing. "Oh." Well that sucked. She shook her head, composing herself. And repeated it, jabbing her wand a little hard.
And... "Yaaay" It had worked. But now. How did she undo it? Surely it wasn't very nice to keep her toad in the netting. Maybe she should work on that now....
There was nothing like watching a student keep trying when they didn't succeed the first time. "Good work, Miss Paton," she smiled warmly. SPOILER!!: Natalia! Quote:

Her mind went to other places she'd rather be and places with people that actually seemed to care and seemed to think she was doing a good job. She wondered what Joe was doing and Diar, then she started wondering what Roman was doing. She sighed and looked out at the grounds while the class continued.
Soon she heard the professor again and turned her eyes back on the woman as she spoke about what they were doing for the day. So they were going to put a cage around them. How appropriate it seemed. Moving her wand out of it's holster Natalia did the movement, "Incarcolvo"
Easy enough the net came out.
The Head Girl got a smile and a nod of approval as Cami came to stand by her a moment. "Wonderful!." Everyone was doing so well! SPOILER!!: Noelle! Quote:

Looks small on the outside but once you get in, has lots of room.
Noelle was going to try it nonetheless. Pointing her wand at Olly first because he'd used the example of pointing her in a net. She gave him a teasing wink before turning her wand at her tank. "Incarcolvo" She said strongly and watched the net come from her wand. "Very nice, Miss Summers." Camilla smiled as she continued through the group of mats laying around. SPOILER!!: Rula! Quote:

They were moving onto the actual spell now! That was nice actually. Rula scribbled down the notes quickly, then pulled out her wand to practice. "In-car-col-vo. In-car-col-vo. Incarcolvo." It was a little tricky at first, but once you got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad. She repeated it a few more times before she decided to move on to the actual casting. No need to focus on practicing the movement beforehand - a jab of the wand wasn't too hard, thankfully. The main difficulty was in the incantation and concentration parts.
She picked up her toad and set him gently on the ground. "Incarcolvo," she said, quickly jabbing her wand when the toad hopped forward.
Nothing appeared.
Rula had to repeat this a few more times, at first unsuccessful and then partially unsuccessful as a bit of rope came out of her wand but not in net form. Then she finally had to pause to grab the escaping toad and set him closer to her again. "Stay, please." She eyed him, and he stared up at her...
Now! "Incarcolvo!" Jab!
The mesh net appeared, neatly capturing the toad, before turning into a cage. Yay!
There was nothing wrong with having a bit of trouble and Rula here proved that. "Lovely, Miss Botros! Very nice work with remaining calm until you managed it." Keeping calm and focused was always best. There was no need in getting up and this was the type of consistence she approved of. SPOILER!!: Juno! Quote:
Originally Posted by Suziella Oh, this could be fun! Making cages appear out of nothing was interesting that was for sure.
Juno took a deep breath and closed her eyes, as she usually did when practicing new spells. She took her wand and practiced the jabbing motion a few times. There were many spells that you had to jab with so this she didn't practice as much. When she felt she was ready, she set her wand in her lap, and began saying the incantation over and over again, "Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo, Incarcolvo." As she said it she moved her hand as if she was holding the wand. This helped her memorize the wand movement that belonged to the spell.
When she felt she was ready, she opened her eyes, and opened the lid to her toad's tank. With a quick jab of her wand, she said, "Incarcolvo!" A small netting instantly came out of her wand and trapped the little toad. She watched as the netting turned into a cage.
Magic was so cool.
Moving on to the next student, the brunette professor watched in silence for a moment. Once the toad was safely inside it's little cage she smiled warmly, "Great work!" SPOILER!!: Levi! Quote:
Originally Posted by Oesed Levi had been there the WHOLE time, ignoring his chosen toad (???) and looking like he was very much focused on the lesson at hand. In reality, however, he'd only been half listening as he just stared at Professor Stewart, who was looking particularly pretty today.
So. Business, as usual.
His one complaint was possibly that the woman had advised them to wear clothes they'd be okay getting dirty. Or rather, his one complaint was at himself for even listening as, presently, the boy was sporting the same beat up jeans he'd used for Professor Myer's vineyard field trip. Except that now, of course, the jeans were sporting permanent grape stains all over, which was just. Fabulous. Sarcasm implied.
As he slowly began to re-acquire some autonomy over his ability to actually focus in class, Levi became aware that his classmates were not only participating in class but also seemed to be practicing some kind of spell. Inca--what? He blinked, realizing he'd appropriated the mat next to the Slytherin girl from the library research whatever (he was trying not to think about that) whose name he'd either never learned or had forgotten. Typical.
The boy scratched his chin as he tried to be subtle about watching her work. And listening to how she said the spell. Then looked around to see the rest. Incarcolvo. So... a cage for the toads? Or, he supposed, potentially for anything. Maybe. "Stay right where you are." He instructed quite sternly at his toad, wagging his index finger at it. Levi plucked it out, made a face at its skin texture against his palm. Miraculously, the toad did not move after Levi set it on the ground.
He jabbed his wand at it. "Incarcolvo!" The toad blinked, and Levi frowned. "I said--" He took a deep breath, once again jabbing the wand at it, "Incarcolvo!" It worked, right as the toad became bored enough and seemed ready to make a run for it. "Professor Stewart," Levi called, raising his hand (and wand) and watching the toad just in case the spell decided to stop working. He'd run after it if he had to. He actually had some questions. Or rather, one question. For now. "Does the spell only work on animals or can it be used on human beings, too?"
Levi didn't appear to thrilled with having to pick up his toad. That was alright by her, not everyone liked toads but he wasn't complaining and he was seemingly working on the spell. So yes, props to him for this. She watched him give a go at the spell getting it on the second try. She smiled and nodded in approval opening her mouth to compliment his work when he asked her a question. The same on Oliver had asked earlier. Camilla directed her reply not only to him but everyone this time. "The spell is intended for mostly animals typically those small in nature. Those that are more advanced in the subject or have incredible strength and focus could use this on much larger animals or human beings. It is also very much possible to create a cage with a door so that you don't have to cancel the spell or wait for it to wear off."
After making another round through the grass to see how everyone was doing Professor Stewart returned to the front. "Amazing job everyone! To remove the cage all you have to do is cast a simple 'Finite'. Or you can wait for the spell to wear off." It was really that easy. "Go ahead and do that now if you like or you may leave your toad in the cage for now." "Before we move onto our main activity there's something missing. We need more toads." Hint hint. Professor Stewart looked at all her students before her. "Who can tell me how we can fix this problem? What transfiguration spell can we use to create more toads?" She was sure that most of the could already. "Tell me the name of the spell, what it does and if you like go ahead and give it a try on your toad." Yep, another mini activity before the real activity. Only this activity was attached to questions they all should know the answer too. There was a small smirk playing across the professors face indicating that she was asking this particular question for a good reason. OOC: Here we go guys! So there's a few questions here along with a small activity. You can have the kids answer the questions and try out the spell or just have them answer the questions or do the spell itself! It's up to you. Those that do the spell can fail, can make more then one copy  or whatever else you like! I'll be moving on again in about 24ish hours!
