That would make for a good lesson sometime though. SPOILER!!: James! Quote:

James couldn't help but gave a small exasperated sigh before quietly moved himself under the shade of a tree. Yes...finally he could see much better now. Eh, toads? Interesting. What were they going to do with them? He shrugged. He had no idea. It wasn't like they expecting a prince or a princess suddenly appearing in front of their eyes once they kissed the ugly toads, right? Ridiculous. Yes, she saw you moving to stand beneath a tree James. Just so he was at the lesson, with the group and not causing trouble she had no problem with him sitting in the shade. SPOILER!!: Oliver! Quote:

They were probably going to be transfiguring the toads, considering this was a transfiguration class. After a moment Olly decided to name his toad Alfred. He wasn't sure exactly why, but it felt like a fitting name.
Why were they going to get dirty? What were they going to do with the toads? Olly had absolutely no idea. Why were they supposed to guess what they were doing in class before they actually did it? He heard someone suggest they might be turning the toads into tadpoles, but that didn't seem like something that would get them dirty. "Are we transfiguring ourselves into toads?" Probably not because that sounded very very hard, but it was sort of an amusing thought. Transfigure themselves into toads? Camilla smiled but shook her head. "Not today but that would be rather amusing, wouldn't it?" An entire class transformed into toads hopping around outside. SPOILER!!: Natalia! Quote:

She chewed her lip as the other's spoke not really sure what to say for an answer. Her brain wasn't working as sharply as she would have liked, but she was blaming the NEWTs on top of everything else.
Finally raising her hand she quietly spoke, "Could we be transfiguring it into furniture?" "Very interesting guess but that is not what we'll be doing today." Toad skinned furniture. Very interesting indeed. SPOILER!!: Kane! Quote:

They were going to be getting dirty, but what did that have to do with toads? The only thing he could think of that was dirty that you could do on a nice, spring day was gardening...
He raised his hand. "Um, transfiguring the toads into gardening tools?" he suggested. That sounded even stupider when he said it aloud... Gardening tools? Another creative and out of the box guess. This was why she enjoyed open ended questions, allowing the students free range of their thoughts for a bit. "As useful as that would be we won't be needing gardening tools for this lesson," she smiled at him. SPOILER!!: Henry Quote:

Oh... no offense, professor, but he didn't really want to play a guessing game. Not when there was really nothing to go on. Obviously, they'd be transfiguring their toads into something as this was Transfiguration class, but it could be literally anything. There weren't any clues that he saw, so he didn't want to just make a random guess. Instead, he occupied himself by peering into the tank he had chosen at the pudgy little toad inside, wondering just what a transfiguration experience was like for animals. Another silent student didn't at all bother her. Maybe he would give the next question a try. SPOILER!!: Leon! Quote:

He turned his attention to the Professor as she started class and started to ask questions.. hmm why has she asked them to wear comfortable clothes that they could get dirty.. It was obvious they were transforming the toads into something..
But what?
He listened to the responses.. furniture? Really? He shook his head and thought for a moment before raising his hand. "Because whatever we are doing requires us to have full range of movement and since we are near the lake.. we could be getting muddy.." That was all his brain had for the moment.. Professor Stewart nodded her head at this. "There is a very good chance you'll all be moving around quite a bit in a few minutes as well as getting muddy." So yes, good guess Leon. SPOILER!!: Harriet Quote:
Originally Posted by RachieRu Harriet didn't mind getting muddy or dirty. She did not mind at all. She was an artist and to be honest she spent most of her time being dirty. So she really wasn't fazed about being or getting dirty in this lesson. To be honest it actually made her pretty excited about whatever they were going to do in the lesson. She actually really didn't have a clue what they would be doing. But she could try and give a good guess anyway. The blonde thought for a few minutes before she raised her hand into the air. "Could we be doing something near the water? So we might get wet?" Which would mean they could get dirty. "Another good guess! There is a good chance you will be getting wet as well." Just not from the lake. SPOILER!!: Matt Quote:

"WHAAAT?" He yelled all the way from where he was, more for the sake of being loud, noisy and possibly obnoxious than because he wanted to hear the lesson.
He didn't care THAT much about lessons, really. Especially if they revolved around the lake. The brunette professor let out a breath her eyes focusing on Matt and how far back he was away from everyone else. "If you are having trouble hearing my lesson, Mr Meriwether, perhaps it would be in your best interest to move closer," she called out to him. That was the one and only time she would suggest it. If he didn't hear what was happening during the rest of the lesson that would be his problem. SPOILER!!: Carlton! Quote:

He looks like our neighbour Bertie." Something about the eyes, ya know? "Is it him? I mean- Are they people? Are we turning them back into people?" In all honesty, he liked Bertie better as a toad than a human but he didn't voice this out loud just in case it really WAS him. What?! His neighbor Bertie? Camilla couldn't help but grin at this interesting answer. "I can most certainly assure you that the toad you have there, Mr Lewis is not your neighbor or any other person. That was a very good guess though." SPOILER!!: Junia! Quote:

"They do, but looks can be deceiving. I fear mine might be a bit defiant." She nodded solemnly and turned her attention back to her small toad, expression thoughtful.
A Natterjack? Junia glanced from her toad to the younger boy and raised her eyebrows. "You mean your toad is a Natterjack? Interesting name. I'm not really sure what mine is. I'm not an expert or any-OH!" OH MERLIN!
The Slytherin squeaked and flailed and moved closer to the younger boy, just to make sure he wasn't dead or anything. That happened sometimes at this school, did he know? He seemed alive enough, though. Plus the professor had witnessed the unfortunate turn of events, so she was off the hook. Mostly. She definitely hadn't caused it, so that was a plus.
Err...
What was the question again?
Oh. Yeah. She had no idea what they'd get up to, but she really hoped she wouldn't be turning into a toad. "Is there any way we can transfigure the toad into an ice pack for the kid here?" Because okay, still feeling a bit bad for him. Did Etta see that? Now that was definitely a different turn of replies. A good one at that. "I must say that I have never tried to transform a toad into an ice pack but I could possible manage that. It isn't what we'll be doing today as I don't think he needs more then one." Hopefully not anyhow! If Derfael did in fact want an ice pack she herself could handle that. SPOILER!!: Etta! Quote:

She simply said, raising a hand.[/COLOR] A student that wasn't afraid to tell her that she didn't know. It didn't happen often much as most students didn't like admitting that. Cami smiled warmly anyhow, "That's quite alright. You'll know soon enough." SPOILER!!: Noelle! Quote:

"My guess would be transfiguring the frogs. But that seems too easy." She said with half a grin. What else could it be though? "Transfiguration isn't always easy Miss Summers. The difficulty of the transfiguration would relay on your own abilities." What was easy for some wasn't always easy for another. She smiled nodding her head though. SPOILER!!: Rooney! Quote:

There was an offer that he would be stupid to turn down for the second time, but honestly...his mother was insisting he stayed in education.
He raised his hand. "Well, Professor, we're outside. You're either sick of seeing us wearing ties, or we're going to be dealing with water and dirt and getting filthy." Or she was going to throw something over them. He wasn't sure which he preferred. Rooney. While is answer wasn't out there like some of them it made Cami laugh anyhow. "You wouldn't be entirely wrong about that first part there, I like seeing my students comfortable." The same went for herself. If they could wear comfortable clothing to every lesson she would allow it. "It's very likely that at least the majority of those here will be getting dirty, yes." SPOILER!!: Cassie! Quote:

Especially messy ones. "And the toads...the toads are our transfiguration medium." What the would be transfiguring. Not unlike a rat into a water goblet. "Getting messy is a very good guess and chances are that this will happen. We will not be entering the lake though this afternoon." Sorry to all those that wanted to go swimming. SPOILER!!: Rula Quote:

And now the lesson was starting! And...what was a good guess for what they might be doing today? Hmm...
Rula looked around, eyes on the lake and then turning to each student as they spoke, trying to figure out her own guess. Finally, she raised a hand. "Maybe we're going to transfigure the toads and the tanks into a small boat? So we can go out on the lake?" Probably not, now that she thought about it, because that didn't sound like something that would be messy. But oh well, just a guess! Well this was certainly not an answer she had even considered herself! "As fun as that sounds and those tanks would work well for a boat transfiguration it isn't what we'll be doing today. Very good guess though!" SPOILER!!: Juno! Quote:

Juno listened to everyone's ideas. They all sounded like fun and very possible activities that they could be doing. Juno raised her hand and when called on replied, "Well,
working with toads isn't particularly easy. I am sure we are going to get messy and dirty and we will be moving around a lot...especially if our toads get loose. So it is better that we are wearing comfortable clothes that we don't mind getting dirty than our school robes that really need to stay neat and tidy."
Yep. That was her answer. No idea what they were going to be doing with the toads though... A grin formed on Camilla's face before it quickly turned back into a smile. "I like that answer. What if the toads did get loose?" That was a very good question. SPOILER!!: Charlotte! Quote:
Originally Posted by Tegz You know what Charlotte liked? Toads. Getting dirty. Being outside. MAGIC.
All of these things were present and accounted for, so she was pretty well happy about being in class (or technically OUT of class) today.
Her toad she kept in its little tank because honestly, she didn't want to freak it out or start it secreting anything out of fear or self-preservation. It didn't need any unnecessary human contact - especially since she wasn't sure exactly what she would be expected to do to it today.
Char looked around and noticed the four large tanks, wondering what they were to do with anything. So far anything she could come up with didn't seem relevant to those tanks that was for sure.
She put her hand up. "Are we learning to conjure something that the toads will eat so that we can coax them into one of those four tanks, maybe one is there for each house, by leaving a trail of things toads like?" With the winning house being the one that gets the most toads in the tank?
Well, at least she was trying to work the tanks into her answer. Finally! Someone remembered the four larger tanks that were around. "Those four tanks are very much going to be coming into play soon and your toads will hopefully be making it into one of them. You won't be conjuring food for them though." So she was half correct. SPOILER!!: Derfael! Quote:
Ow...ow ow ow oooooooow....
Rubning the back of his head Derf glanced around and heard the voice of the Gryffindor who had summoned the tank say something. An apology he assumed...but his ears were ringing a little too much to reeeeeally know for sure. And yes pretty Slytherin girl, he was alive. Thank you for the concern.
Oh hello Etta HI!
"I'M OKAY!" he assured everyone, including the professor. Although going to see the Healer may not be SO bad since the man had DOGS and he could maybe play with the dogs while holding an ice pack to the back of his head..but there were TOADS here and, no offense fury friends, this Hufflepuff preferred their company.
But now came a topic that...Derf had feared. Using creatures as a medium for magic...and he already did NOT like it. He was not very skilled with a wand so what happened if he...you know...made his toad go KABOOM?! HE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH HIMSELF!
So he was going to protest if that was the case. Yup.
"Oh! I like Charlotte's-s-s ans-s-swer!" he chirped in response to the question, still rubbing the back of his head and feeling the bump forming there. "Can we do that?!"
Seeing as to how he got up and appeared steady Professor Stewart kept an eye on him for a few moments. He was talking and not falling back over which were good signs. The fact that he was answering her question was enough to say he didn't need the healer either, however he was rubbing his head. "Mr Ashburry-Hawthorne, would you like an ice pack for your head?" That was most important. Second, "We will be needing those four much larger tanks." Something nearly everyone else had missed or wasn't thinking about.
As each student gave their guess of what the lesson might have in store for them everything appeared on the board beside her. All it took was a wave of her wand for this to happen. The students didn't need to write any of this down just yet but she wanted them all to be able to see what each other had said. "Amazing answers everyone! I would like you all to focus on a few details for me though before we get to our first little task of the lesson. Mud. Water. Those things make our little toad friends slippery. Not to mention they can jump all over the place. If our toads got loose and were hopping all about we would need to get a hold of them which might not be so easy here outside where it's an open area." She paused taking a moment to let them all think about that before continuing.
Was anyone catching on yet? "Rather then trying to catch them with your hands it would be much easier to capture them in a small cage. Which is what we will be learning right now. It's fairly simple and easy to do. The incantation is Incarcolvo and the wand movement is just a jab of your wand at whatever it is you're aiming to catch. If done correctly a mesh-like net will burst from your wand tip and around your target. On contact with the ground the netting will transform into a proper cage which you can easily pick up carry." Did that make sense?
Professor Stewart waved her wand on the board making the words appear.. Quote: Incarcolvo - Cage making spell Wand Movement - A simple jab of the wand aimed at the target How it works - A mesh-like net emerges from the tip of the wand around the intended target. It then turns into a proper cage once making contact with the ground.
Just so that everyone got the proper understanding of it Cami knelt down and removed a toad from one of the left over tanks. She set the toad down and aimed her wand at it. "Incarcolvo!" she cast the netting bursting forth from the tip of her wand and around the toad just as he went to leap into the air. As the toad and netting hit the grass the netting changed into a perfect cage with the toad inside. "For the next couple of minutes I would like you all to give it a try on your toad friends. Remember it's pronounced In-car-col-VO." She would be walking around in case anyone needed help. OOC: Here's the mini activity! It's a fairly simple spell so the students shouldn't have much trouble with it. Feel free to have them mess it up or be unable to cast it though! Only one post is required for this but you may post more if you like! I will be moving on within 24 hours!
