Um, HUFFLEPUFF down, actually really. Meaning, not Derf, but Abey. WHO WAS A HUFFLEPUFF OKAY. Sort of.

Not that Abey was a Legilimens or anything, so actually he could read any thoughts and didn't know to be indignant about being considered a Gryffindor by his ONE AND ONLY VILLAIN. Not about that anyway.

BUT.

THERE WAS SOMETHING ELSE.

FIRST off, Derf's Shield Charm went up, and Abey could do nothing but GAWK. No blocking, no dodging; his legs were still flailing in ALL KINDS OF DIRECTIONS but actually he had noticed actually that since Derf's Spongify spell the only real pain he felt was through the over-use of his leg muscles, because the floor was now nice and spongy and not painful to collide with at all, and in fact actually Abey found himself bouncing lightly up and down with the momentum.

BUT.

BACK TO THE DUEL.

Abey did nothing as his own spell came right back his way, nothing but brace for it, because actually he had the same thought as Derf. Legs locked into place? PLEASE.

As soon as the spell made contact, Abey's legs snapped tightly together and stopped dancing so wildly. Curiously enough it still FELT like they were trying to dance, actually; it was strange, like there was so much ENERGY running through his LEGGIES and he couldn't move to expend it. Um. Um. Um. This wasn't a fun feeling.

BUT.

THERE WAS SOMETHING ELSE OF NOTE.

"What?!" Abey finally yelped in shock in Derf's direction, just in time to be assaulted by a bunch of green sparks. He squirmed and batted them away as they got all up in his face, then paused the actual duel to look at Derf, a mix of awe and something like disappointment on his face. "You can shield?" Unfaaaaiiiiiirrrrrrrr. Abey had been trying to master that siNCE HE WAS BORN. Or, like, for a few months, maybe. Weeks, perhaps. So, you know, there was only one thing for it now. "You have to teach me, and you're not allowed to say no! Cause we're friends!" Big GRIN. Also, very smoothly, as though it was a continuation of all of everything else that he was saying and in the same tone and everything, Abey added in the incantation and wand movement for Purple Firecrackers. Yes, it had been done already a MILLION times in this duel, BUT THEY WERE PRETTY AND ABEY LIKED HAVING THE EXCUSE TO LOOK AT THEM AND THEY WENT SO WELL WITH GREEN SPARKS, OKAY?

Also, they were perhaps the first thing that Abey could think of sending back at Derfael right as he remembered they were still mid-duel.

ALSO, he would definitely thank his villain for the whole spongy floor thing later, after this duel, because Abey appreciated it. Maybe they could both go to the kitchens after this and get some hot chocolate or something. He maybe fantasised about re-energising himself with hot chocolate and biscuits as he sorta half-heartedly bounced himself little where he sat on his soft area of floor, trying to expend alllllllll that weird-wrong-and-not-even-his energy that was building up. Being forced to stay sat on the floor was NOT helping. How could his legs be so awake but the rest of him be so tired?
