Derf blinked several times at the older girl. "I was-s-sn't calling you a niffler," he squeaked. Although he could probably think of a way to make that into a compliment. Something to tuck away in the back of his mind for later. "I'd call you a Veela if I wanted to s-s-say you were attractive." Just stating a fact. "I meaaaaaaant somefing that us-s-ses nifflers! Like like...Hide-and-Go-Niffler! OR OR OR CAPTURE THE FLAG BUT WITH NIFFLERS?!"
And then there were loads of people - Gryffindor people - who kept looking at Etta. And it was confusing and made his tummy squirm like a bucket of worms had been tipped over in it.
And then Etta was asking the Ravenclaw prefect if he wanted to join them and Derf was ALL for it. He was still sort of in AWE at how the older boy had been in Astronomy - because anyone that was of the same mindset of Brian had to be more than just NEAT, you know?
