Rooney barely lifted his head when Professor Newton started talking, but his eyes looked over the fabric of his robes and he stared ahead. Did... did she know that this was a lot of words? He hadn't heard somebody talk this much since Healer Reed. Or since Kitty in the common room. Too many words and no desire to write them down. Something, he was sure he would regret in years to come, but right now he had no time to waste on that. He was making a public appearance, and hopefully people would get the hint that he was drained by the questions and the whispers and he was fed up of having to answer questions about Olivia.
No more of those, though. Because she was back.
Back.. And hadn't told him she was coming back.
Not that it was his right to know anything about her now. She looked happier. Lighter in the way she held herself. She had a new boyfriend, didn't she? That was his newest realisation. In letting her go, he'd left her open to a new relationship. It wasn't like she had never had guys beating down the door to be hers.
She wasn't his anymore.
Hand up, Rooney was sure he had misheard the question or whatever. Or something. "Wizard's Chess, Professor." He said nothing more than that. Instead, thought about his younger sister and how they had scheduled to play that very game after this class.
