"I missed you all too!" Abey called back over his shoulder to Auntie Patricia, because it was TRUE. OF COURSE HE HAD. He still hadn't noticed Uncle Julianne's bunny ears yet, or even really paid much attention to the talk about them because he had run right through everything and was so focused on ONE thing right now.

Abey hugged his big sister as tight as his tiny little Hufflepuff Gryffindor might would allow, trying to get ALL THAT LOVE into just that one hug. And perhaps maybe he was suddenly so overwhelmed with emotion and love and how much he had missed everyone and how happy he was to be back again that he ALMOST ended up in tears. ALMOST. Too many emotions in this small one's body. BUT GOOD ONES. Just overwhelming ones. It was actually probably best not to say anything just yet in case he DID start crying, but Abey squished Lilian all the tighter to try and let her know that he really had missed her too.
He nodded when Lilian spoke; writing letters home was so very difficult so he hadn't done it so much other than when Junia could help him, but it hadn't helped at all with missing everyone, which was probably why he now felt so overwhelmed with relief to be able to talk to them again. And now he really COULD tell them everything. Actually, he had no plans of shutting up, but only after Rula had had her moment to shine. You know, because that was fair, and also he didn't want to accidentally SAY about the THING. THE RING THING.
Breaking away from Lilian, grinned up at her. He HAD grown! Finally! "I'm gonna be really extra actually very tall one day. I'm gonna be as tall as Hassan! Taller!" Maybe.
Wait, wait... was that... that WAS...
"Mama!"
This time, there was no hope at all. Within seconds of Abey pouncing on his mother with a hug, he broke down into tears. He was a mama's boy THROUGH AND THROUGH, and being away from her even for a day was the WORST POSSIBLE THING EVER. It hurt his heart and he had missed her so so so so so s os ososososososososoosoooooooo much. "I m-missed you too!" he sobbed at her, his words coming out in Arabic rather than English as tended to happen when he got very a little bit emotional.
He tried as hard as he could to pull himself together, but something about his family getting together just made his heart swell so much that his emotions went all CRAZY and wobbly, especially given the very significant person who was missing. And... speaking of missing... "Where's dad?" Not 'daddy' anymore or even 'papa' or anything because none of those words had felt right to call him in a long time, but that was okay, and Abey still loved him anyway no matter what.
Abey wiped at his eyes and attempted to get himself under control because there was still a Hassan over there but Abey wanted to not be crying and everything when he hugged him, and also Kitty too because she was family now and everything, AND EUREKA. EVERYONE. SO MANY PEOPLE. *SOB*
But a distraction arrived in the form of Alanna, who added her hug to Abey's quickly growing collection. Abey, of course, returned it. How simply AWFUL it had been to have to sit in classes and do homework instead of playing with his two younger cousins, which was WAY more fun. And... okay, maybe Hogwarts WAS fun too, but Abey preferred being with his family actually.
Throwing his arms around Alanna - but don't go anyway, Mama, because he wanted more hugs still - Abey gave her such a big squeeze and tried to calm himself. "I missed you so so so so so much, Lanna. Every day I wish I could be playing dress-up with you and Aaron. School uniforms aren't the same." Speaking of Aaron, Abey had every intention of giving him a hug too.
He stayed like that, hugging his younger cousin, but looked towards Mama. So......... yes, where was his dad at?
