She raised her eyebrows to show her skepticism of the Slytherin's story, though she wasn't angry. Kitty knew how hard this curfew was for everyone and she didn't blame Daisy for wanting to get fresh air.

Kitty glanced back the way they came before answering. It was a paranoid habit she'd picked up recently. "I think you wandered away on purpose." she said. Judging by the way Daisy had looked down at her shoes and bitten her lip, she probably knew that Kitty knew too, so no need to go into reasons. "I don't really blame you, though. I know this sucks. But it's even worse for me and the other prefects because we have to be everywhere at once. I even have to accompany people to the bathroom." She wasn't trying to sound whiny, the reason she brought this up was to try to show Daisy that she didn't like these arrangements anymore than she did. "And right now I'm the only Ravenlaw prefect." Just thinking about Rooney made Kitty feel like crying. She even felt tears coming to her eyes but she tried to fight them back, if only for Daisy's sake.

"But you're safe and that's all that matters," she said, her shoulders shaking from stress and sadness. "I won't tell anyone. But please, please next time tell me first. I wouldn't mind accompanying you wherever you wished, as long as I wasn't busy with other students."

She paused to look outside, feeling the wind blow across her hair. It calmed her down a bit. "But you are okay?" She wasn't sure why she asked, since Daisy had already said she was okay.
When the Ravenclaw Prefect told her that she had wandered away on purpose, Daisy at least had the decency to look guilty and apologetic. She really was sorry for worrying Kitty and for probably making her walk up all those stairs once more. But still not enough to wish she hadn't done it, though. The feeling of the chilly wind on her hair was priceless and Kitty would probably agree with her.

Oh. Oh, right.

Daisy hadn't yet realised, of course, that Rooney's disappearance meant that Kitty would have double the duties. "I'm sorry, that must suck for you." She kicked at the floor for a minute before moving towards her bag and crouching down. "For all of you, actually." She wasn't even sure if she meant the Ravenclaw House or the Prefects, at this point. She rummaged around in her bag for a while before pulling out a bag of chocolate frogs. "It must be really hard for the Ravenclaws ... to have their Prefect ... not here." She finished lamely, not really knowing how to word it.

Snatched, taken, kidnapped, gone.

That all sounded awful and she shook her head to clear her thoughts and moved closer to the girl, the bag with the chocolate candy held up her way. "And I do appreciate all that you guys are doing. I mean, it must be exhausting.." Daisy eyed the bags under Kitty's eyes and tilted her head, offering the girl a small smile. "I might not like the idea of having an escort to the bathroom but .. it does make me feel safer." Until she remembered that a Prefect had been taken too, so where they really any safer? Right, best to avoid those thoughts too.

All of a sudden, there were a lot of thoughts to avoid.

The girl's question did throw her off for a second and Daisy looked at her curiously. Was she okay? Like, generally? "I'm fine. Bit stressed out because of the exams but ..." She shrugged and opened her arm, trying to encompass everything that was happening at Hogwarts with one movement. ".. it all seems a bit meaningless now." People were gone and as far as she could see, all they were doing as wait around for them to miraculously come back. "You? How are you holding up?" Except for, you know, being overworked.
