It took a moment for Rosalyn to register that the Headmistress had to be elsewhere. This could be VERY problematic, but still she glanced around to see if the woman would show at any moment. "I'm sure that she will, Miss Summers. In a capacity that doesn't put any of you in danger." As in they weren't stepping foot in the portal.

At that moment the woman they were waiting for arrived, and Rosalyn gave a huge sigh of relief.

"It's Carlton Lewis! I was talking to him in the pathways when suddenly everything went weird. There was a flash of light and before I could grab hold of him, he was gone. It must have been a portal. Miss Summers saw everything as well." Which was part of why she was here, the other part was for safety; there was no way she was risking another student being grabbed without doing something to stop it.

"I'm not sure if anyone else has been taken, but it's possible given the fact that it appeared randomly and vanished. This must have been what happened at the bridge..." Unfortunately no one had witnessed that incident.

Nothing.

Looking at the professor, she opened her mouth to say that perhaps they didn't have the right password, only, the headmistress was behind them. Noelle nodded her head at the headmistress and moved aside to let her say the password and thank Merlin that statue moved.

Noelle didn't have to say a word though as Professor Newton began telling the story. Exactly how Noelle would have told it. So Noelle nodded with everything that she had said. Now what?? Could they go get their precious pea?
Had the professor's urgent words not grasped her attention, the headmistress would have wondered why the female Gryffindor prefect had suddenly gone quiet. But, for the moment, the woman had temporarily forgotten that the prefect was here. Rosalyn's account about Carlton Lewis's disappearance made her uneasy. There was a bright flash and he was gone? Must have been a portal? Must have been what had happened over a month ago at the wooden bridge? Not sure if anyone else was taken? Eyes wide, a million thoughts were going through her mind.

After taking a moment to breathe and collect herself, Regina's eyes gazed over to Noelle. "Miss Summers, please report to Gryffindor Tower immediately. If you see any of your housemates along the way, take them with you. Help your Head of House make sure everyone is present and accounted for. No one is to be out in the corridors until told otherwise."

Her head then turned to the History of Magic professor. "Rosalyn, gather the others and tell them to help make sure students are going to their common rooms for roll call. We need make sure if just Carlton is gone or if there are others before we take our next move. We will meet near the portal in precisely one hour to discuss our options."

The woman then took out her wand from her holster and placed it gently at her throat. Soon her voice blasted through the school loudspeakers and flooded every nook and cranny of the castle as she quickly made her way back up to the sixth floor. "All students are to report to their common rooms immediately. Under no circumstances are you go anywhere but your houses. Students that are caught lollygagging will face severe consequences."

It was bad enough that they were going to be escorted everywhere by a professor or prefect and that the curfew would be changed from 9 PM to 6 PM if Carlton Lewis, and others if more had disappeared, didn't show up soon. Or worse: the school would be closed.
