"Wait, did you say 'Bossman?' As in, our boss? Our department head is a cat?" Good thing Bear was a cat person... "Or, well, animagus, I guess. I assume he's not always a cat. Although I guess I wouldn't complain if he were. I like cats..." He shrugged.

Watching the commotion for a few more moments, Bear couldn't TAKE it anymore. He kept thinking about the way she'd called him Theodore. It was like her voice was italicized. And also BURNED IN HIS BRAIN.

He looked at Amelia as if surveying her trustworthiness, then looked around to see if anyone important happened to be listening. Seeing that the coast was clear (everyone was distracted by the craziness over yonder), he lowered his voice and said, "Okay, I haven't said this to anyone here yet, but I've been dying to. I HATE the name Theodore. I've never gone by Theodore. Not ever. My own mother doesn't call me Theodore. I've always been Bear, always, and that's what I like to be called, but I feel like a childhood nickname that stuck just isn't professional, and I've never had another grown-up job before so I don't know what's acceptable and what's not so I don't know what to do or if it would be okay if I went by Bear because I did while I was at university and no one seemed to mind, but then again, university is school and not an actual adult job so it's not exactly the same, is it? What do you think? Can I go by Bear? Will anyone care or think I'm stupid or immature?" He took a deep breath after spitting all of that out in a giant run-on sentence. His eyes were wide as he waited for her reply. He reeeeeeally hoped someone else would tell him it was okay to go by Bear. He hated Theodore. But he braced himself for her calling him a big dumb baby with a stupid name. HE COULD TAKE IT. (No, he couldn't. He was, in fact, a big dumb baby sometimes.)

Seemed a little trivial in comparison to the mess around them, what with people falling and turning into animals and whatnot, but still. He needed answers!

A charms developer. Amelia pondered this for a moment. "'Charms developer.' So, would that include creating new charms?" Because she had to admit, that did sound fun. And his dream job, wow the kid had found his place then. "I'm more of a potions girl myself. I'm a toxicology and contamination surveyor. Within the Potion Accident Response Team Division." Long title. "So if you ever mess up a potion, I'll probably be there to clean up your mess." This was a joke and all but please... Don't mess around with potions. Serious face.

Amelia nodded. Yup. The Bossman. Their Bossman. The kitty boss. "He's probably not always a cat no." She agreed, amused. "I uh..." She took a quick glance around them to make sure no one from their department could overhear. "I called him adorable, you know. And that I was willing to take him home." She didn't know why she told him this. Maybe she thought it was nice to have someone to tell these kind of things to. "When he was a cat." She quickly added to avoid any confusion. "Not adult man."

That would have been more awkward.

Then he caught her interest again. He hadn't told anyone what? Amelia leaned in slightly, curiosity rising. She loved secrets. Not that she was particularly good at keeping them, in all honesty she was awful at keeping secrets. But she loved them nonetheless. She raised her eyebrows in surprise at what he'd told her. "Bear?" She couldn't help but grin at his question if she thought anyone would think he was immature. "That's... An unusal nickname. I must know the full story of the nickname before I can answer your questions." Actually, she could answer them right away. She was just curious. "Why a bear, though? Seems like there's a lot of animals that would fit as a nickname, Theodore." She added, simply to watch his reaction again at his own name mentioned.

Fun.
