Oh good, she already knew Legend. It would make assimilating into the workplace less jarring...for the most part. Merlin knew that man was an entirely new specie when he got inside and put on the Head Auror badge.

"Hey Simon." Lex greeted as the Head of Security made his way over. "Thought you'd be all over the goody bags like a certain someone else right now. Can't have that inner workoholic out shined afterall." She didn't know why the Becca woman was by the new employee intake being as nosy as she was but that was definitely a problem for someone not named Alexa. "You'll wanna know him too." She said, gesturing to Simon with a nod of her head.

"Oh yeah, suspensions are something of a trump card around here. MLE-ers aren't exactly the type to be thrilled with being stuck on desk duty and having their only joy in the day shattered for a predetermined amount of time. I go mad." Suspensions were horrid horrid things. "Got my patrol duties suspended once for making a joke about taking a rock to Legend's head. His sense of humour needs work so only nice jokes to start."

Everything was effortless with Nana, and undefined. And what he and Olympia did was anything but dating. Now he had to somehow put effort into a date with someone he knew absolutely nothing about.

Hopefully they enjoyed rock climbing. That had gone well the first time he had attempted a blind date. Alexa would have appreciated rock climbing at least. She did like scaling things if he recalled.

"Was for a good cause anyway," he added before taking a long drink from his glass. "Ryunosuke, but most prefer to just call me Ryu," he nodded in response to the other's question.

And then there was Simon, who received a small cursory nod of the head in acknowledgement. Great minds think alike, Cambridge. Although he kept such sentiments to himself and instead gave the Auror a knowing wink of approval. The appearance of another woman caused the man to raise his glass in her direction, just a simple gesture as she nibbled on her pinwheel.

She couldn't help but smirk at the banter between Lex and Ryu. That was certainly interesting. "Ryu, good to meet you," she said, doing her best to seem at least marginally sincere but not flirty. "Nicky. Nicole." She held out her hand to over to shake. There was clearly some ministry dirt being alluded to, about people that had gone unnamed in the conversation. This was a whole new place to learn.

The suspension bit, though, was important. "No jokes about Legend's head, check," she said, laughing just slightly. She didn't want this gig to be over before it started, that was for sure. "I'm going to assume embarrassing family stories are probably off limits too, then, yeah?" Not that she had any of them. But if she needed, she wondered if she could get them...

"We've been over a lot of things, to be fair and no one's set in stone." Lex held no real thought to the man and his decisions, truly she much liked the back and forth banter than anything else. It was fun poking his buttons. This sort of thing was fun in general so like as it was light and didn't particularly mean a thing. "But shame on you dragging your feet so long, the poor woman must be wilting in front of a mirror. I've already gotten mine out of the way, some more eventful than others."

Lex gave something of a nod at the mention of it being 'for a good cause'. That's the line her grandmother had used before stuffing her into a dress and forcing her out of the Manor with her cousin. "I'm almost sure some of us benefitted more than the charity." As in.....Arisa had had a field day bidding on pretty men. Nothing anyone said could convince her the woman had bidded for the 'greater good'.

"Oh, Simon's head of security around here." To answer that question for the younger woman. "YATI's don't get much action til the training's complete but he'd know some of the more interesting things happening around this place. Saves you the boring Ministry Patrols that never turn up much." She did not miss them, nor did she miss the reports that needed to be written up afterwards. Ugh.

And on that note, another nod. "Those especially could earn you some time on desk duty re-writing expired arrest warrants or updating the backlogs." She was sure the man had a sense of humour SOMEWHERE laying around the place but it was evident he misplaced it more often than not.

"It'll be fine, plenty other people to mess with. Get nice enough with one of the Aurors and they might let you borrow their desks when they're out of the office. The ground's great and all but three years is a long time to suffer through those uncomfortable butt cramps." To be honest, she didn't mind it. It was very...character building. Just another thing to endure to get her badge. It's why she'd turned down Sabel when he'd offered to let her have his.

Lex took note of him, greeting him in return as he popped a morsel of food into his mouth. Something cheesy. And then there was the remark about expecting him over by the goody bags and ideas. Inner workaholic indeed. “Well I figured this year I’d give everyone the evening off from my scrutiny,” Simon remarked with a casual one-armed shrug. “Shake things up a bit.” After all, he couldn’t be so predictable lest people figure out a way to beat his surveillance. Kinda defeated the purpose of security rounds that way. As for the new employee getting to know him…

Had he forgotten a new security employee of his?

While he mulled over that thought, Simon acknowledge the simple nod Ryu gave him in greeting with one of his own. And then his attention was back at the new woman…Nicole it turned out to be…was asking what he himself did but to Lex. Cue slight raise of the eyebrow but he let it pass, figuring maybe she was more comfortable with the auror at the moment. He instead tried out more food but still remained in the sphere. A former classmate? She did talk, about Legend of all things, like they had known each other for a bit.

The security man fought the urge to snicker at Lex’ description of his job and the tasks hand, absently shaking his head. “It’s all about the timing,” he mused with a touch of jest. Not his fault that she had bad boring luck during patrols in-house. He then decided to interact with another young woman that appeared new in this environment. “Hello…” he greeted with a small polite smile.
