Just as she was about to put the coffee on to brew, there was a knock on the door and a request for help. All other thoughts flew out of her head as Rosalyn quickly made her way to the door. "What is it, Miss Carden? Has there been another incident?" As in... that weird portal thing that had appeared in the Sixth Floor corridor some weeks ago.
Thank Merlin someone was in here. As she heard the footsteps approaching the door, the Slytherin took a few steps back and adjusted the scarf around her neck. "Professor Newton!" The relief was visible on Daisy's face as she saw the History of Magic Professor appear. It would also seem like the staff had been expecting something to happen again -- maybe they also ought to have warned the students, though? She had, until this afternoon, been blissfully unaware of the existence of these portals.
"Yes, it has! By the wooden bridge." The girl was calmer now, after having spoken to the Head Girl, so she was able to explain it better than she had in the common room. "The bridge started creaking and a light appeared. Then the railing sort of ... disappeared. It was weird, suddenly there was this expanding hole in its place." She gulped, gnawing at her lip for a second. "There were two girls there. When the light disappeared, the portal--" That had been what Natalia had called it. "-- was gone ... and so were the girls."
"I ran back to the castle and told the Head Girl. She went to the bridge and asked me to come and tell a Professor the portal on the sixth floor had moved." Wait ... what if this portal opened again and took Natalia? The girl just about resisted the urge to grab the staff member by her hand. "You have to come with me, please! The portal was closed when I left but it might come back!"
