Amelia was born in São Paulo, Brazil in 2070. Her father, Samuel Hartman met her mother, then Sofia Carvalho in Brazil due to business. Samuel instantly fell in love with her and asked her to marry him after only knowing her for 3 days. She declined his offer and settled for dating him for two years before finally accepting his proposal of marriage. The couple had a daughter, Amelia, and stayed in Brazil for 3 more years. Business was calling Samuel back to the US however, and eventually the whole family ended up moving there. They returned to where Samuel was from, New York and there their daughter grew up. She had a safe and adventurous childhood and grew up to be an independent and stubborn young girl. When she turned 11 she was enrolled in Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry between the years 2081-2088.
