Hence suggesting the girl talk to Simon. As head of Security, he'd know the ins and outs of securing one. "The food's pretty decent, won't deny that. Wouldn't bother eating it otherwise. Life's too short to force yourself through unpleasant things...with exception." With obvious exception actually. Sometimes, though it loathed her to admit it, even she had to grit her teeth and go through it with things. It was how you maintained certain comforts. It was sometimes also how you kept your job and stayed off suspension too. "Might take some home with me, now that I think about it." Like the pie right there, she'd take some home for Emm and watch the baby make a complete mess of it. Disappointing really.
Lex took a glance around the room, sharing the younger woman's sentiment. "More or less I'm afraid. We had dementors and boggarts one year in a maze but that's the most I've seen." And for as much as she'd enjoyed them, as an MLE-er she couldn't help wondering who's dumb idea it was to use REAL dementors in a place where not everyone was so skilled at defense. "Just a lot of mixing and mingling from what I've seen." A bit fuzzy... interesting. Nicky was taking special note of anything Cambridge said that gave her a glimpse of how the auror did her job. "Noted." She'd get on that wand thing after the party, maybe.
As Lex went on about the food, Nicky turned, nodding, and grabbed a pastry puff. Popping it into her mouth, she considered whether there was anything worth taking home. "Don't pay you enough not to have to take leftovers home?" Not that Nicky was here for money. Sure, the cash her grandparents had paid her to stay at school wouldn't last forever, but this was more about adrenaline than it was galleons.
And speaking of adrenaline... the tale of parties past was interesting. "...Real ones? That's either brilliant or mad," she said, grabbing a drink from the table. "Did anyone get kissed?" She would have paid to see that, truthfully. It was a shame that this party seemed so lame in comparison. Sipping her drink, she visually scanned the room, taking in the others there. "Anyone I should especially make sure to mix with?" Professionally or personally, if she was honest.
