J.K. Rowling confirmed that the production team for the second
Fantastic Beasts movie are currently in the midst of casting the younger Albus Dumbledore, at Sunday evening's BAFTA film awards.
The
Harry Potter author and
Fantastic Beasts' series scribe also noted that Dumbledore was her favorite character from the Wizarding World, and so the current casting process was a huge undertaking for her and others involved, including director David Yates and producer David Heyman. Production for
Fantastic Beasts 2 starts later this summer, with Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Zoe Kravitz, and Johnny Depp set to return.

J.K. Rowling: "It's amazing, even if we don't win that is a huge nomination to get so i really am thrilled," she said.
Speaking about returning to the Harry Potter universe for the franchise, she said: "You know the expectation is massive, the bar is very high, the only reason to return was if you had a story you still wanted to tell, and I did have and its been incredible."
She also said she is currently in the process of casting the young Dumbledore for the next film. "He is my favourite character in the whole series. We're right in the middle of that right now," she said.
