He finished off the last of his hot cocoa just as Santa came in and he turned his attention to him as more candy grams were given out. Oh, Charlotte got one and he gave her a little smile as he watched her light up a bit. And... two? He wondered for a moment, but didn't dwell long on that thought as she was obviously affected by it. "Hey, are you okay?" he whispered as he reached out to touch her arm since she was sitting right next to him. "What's wrong?" Had it been the candy gram? They were supposed to be fun and nice surprises, right? Not something that would make his friend look like she would burst into tears. And he hated the thought of her crying.
He might have half heard the professor ask another question, but it didn't really register. And he might have mentioned the spell he knew about transfiguring shoes into skates if he was willing to volunteer an answer. But right now he was more concerned with what was going on with Char. With her next question given Camilla made her way through the students that had raised their hands. Eyes falling upon Henry for a moment even though he remained silent. His attention seemed to be on his fellow classmate sat beside him. She would keep an eye on this and make sure they were paying attention to the lesson still. Quote:

Doodling idly in her notebook as a distraction from her lack of popularity, Skylar tried to focus simultaneously on what Professor Stewart had to say in regards to winter activities. Transfiguration spells handy in the cold? Hot air charm? But wait, was that considered a charm, not a transfiguration spell?
Biting her lip idly, she raised her hand hesitantly, "Professor, you could maybe use a switching spell, right? Like to switch something to something warmer like mittens or a scarf or a hat?" In case one forgot to dress warm. Camilla smiled softly in seeing that Skylar stopped doodling on her paper or whatever it was she had been doing to answer the question. "Yes, a switching spell could very well come in handy. Good answer." Quote:

Not to use specific outside in the cold… She didn’t knew a spell to transform a old rag into a nice warm jacket what would be useful she decided. But… What else? She had no idea! Hmm… Another quiet one. Camilla gave her a smile glad that she was paying attention and appeared to at least be thoughtful on the subject. Quote:

Roonwy Bronwyn, it was from Rooney Bronwyn.
It was tough answering a question when you were all teared up and didn't want to draw attention to that fact but wouldn't it be more odd if she didn't answer? Char put her hand up and quietly put forward, "Bluebell flames professor? They are good to warm your hands over." And you conjured them, which made them a transfiguration. Despite looking as upset as she did Cami was happy to see Char still offering up a reply. A good one at that. "Great answer, Ms Kettleburn, bluebell flames most certainly would keep your hands warm." He saw all his classmates being surprised and some others tearing. Come on you cant be that sensitive. Now come to think of it, did he write Juliette one? Yeah he should have for his girlfriend. He wouldn't be proper boyfriend material then. Anyways onto the other lesson question before he let his mind wander even more.....
So what transfiguration spell could he use in the winter? Well...he had one idea. "Professor I know you can use Glacius on the ponds to create an ice skating rink..?" I mean come on that would be fun. But now onto a heating charm because you needed to be warm for a bit. "I would also use the Hot-Air charm as well to dry off my clothes.." There two answers for the price of one. While these both were good answers it wasn't what she had been looking for, especially not from a seventh year. "Well yes, while both of those would keep you entertained and dry they are considered Charms and not a form of Transfiguration." Good answers though just the wrong lesson. Quote:

She raised her hand. "Ermm, you could transfigure your hands into... something warmer..." Actually, she wasn't sure if that was possible. What if her hands got stuck as hot coals forever? Interesting but closer to what she had in mind even if not exactly. "This could be useful but it may also cause problems in using your hands should you need to," she replied with a light smile. It really came down to what you turned your hands into and body transfiguration wasn't that easy to do if you weren't already used to it. Quote:

Now they were on to something else, and Brent automatically had a thought. "What about Glisseo?" he suggested. "I heard you could do some pretty cool things with it, like transform a table into a slide--or into a slope to sled on!" Could they do this now? They WERE on the topic on winter sports! "I don't think it's exactly what you were looking for, but it does come in handy in the cold, and I'm certainly down for some winter sports!"
He could always dress warm in the cold, so what would come in handy for him was a cure for winter boredom. Yet another who confused a charm with transfiguration. Maybe she should've gone over the difference earlier. They might have to have a review in a later lesson. "While that does sound like fun Mr Westwood," she smiled while saying this because yes she enjoyed winter activities, "Glisseo is meant to turn stairs into a slide and is also a Charm." Quote:

But anyway. Yes. Learning. Lessoning. That was happening.
EVEN THO ABEY WAS TOTALLY ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DISTRACTED BY THE CANDY GRAM MAN (the candy gram maaaaaaaaaan). And, even though he didn't have a WHOLE lot of friends, and so wasn't really expecting anything, he couldn't help but hope that maybe perhaps possibly AT ONE POINT he might get a candy gram delivered to him. Like that pretty blonde Olivia girl from his house (he remembered HER name because she was that pretty blonde Olivia girl from his house who smiled at him that one time) who had got approximately a million, and that other pretty blonde girl from his house (whose name Abey could NOT remember) who had received approximately a little less than a million.
........ Except she definitely didn't look very happy about hers. Abey just... sort of watched her for a moment, before realising he was staring and quickly looked away because sometimes people didn't like being looked at while they were upset.
(For the record, Abey didn't always mind people looking at him when he was upset. He didn't ever ever ever hide his sadnesses and often he made sure that everyone KNEW about it actually.)
(Just for the record.)
(Okay.)
OKAY. YES. LESSON. OKAY.
Uhhhhhhh... okay. A transfiguration spell that would come in handy in the cold... okay. OKAY. THIS WAS FINE. Abey knew EXACTLY what he was going to say, and he stuck his hand up at once (he was getting better at remembering that part) already saying his answer (okay, maybe not that much better actually). "A spell that can TRANSFIGURE the weather to HOT." Listen. He didn't actually know if such a spell existed, he had only fantasised about it, but now he was hoping it was real and that he could learn it. "One that transfigures the AIR, you know? From cold to hot?" Did she understand? Honestly, it was all Abey could come up with, because he didn't know about many transfiguration spells, only charms, and he definitely hadn't read his textbook because no. "I really hate the cold." Honestly really actually. By the way. Just for the record. Camilla paused listening fully to this answer. At first she wasn't entirely sure what what he had meant but then he continued and she understood. "That would be very helpful indeed but sadly you can not change the air. What you can do is make it snow, rain, or bring sunshine. It would only be in a certain area however and is also charms rather then transfiguration." Quote:

He was 99.99% sure that the candy gram she had just received was the one he had furiously put together for her after his chat with Katy. And had definitely used the idea of candy canes to hammer it home. Candy Cangel, anyone? But w h a t e v e r. He just wanted her to know that he knew juuuuuuuuust how shady she was. And that he now had no attention for her.
Attention back on the Professor, Rooney raised his hand. "Focalia, Professor. It gives you firewood and you can keep warm or use it as a beacon if you're stranded, I suppose." He would have only thought about using it for a fire to keep warm, but people had different ideas about different spells all the time.
Who was Rooney Bronwyn to say they were wrong? That was not to say he wouldn't say someone was wrong. "Very good answer! I should hope that none of you are ever in need of using this should you get lost or stranded but yes, Focalia could be very helpful should you need a firewood for a fire." Quote:

Relieved that all of them seemed to be from Rooney, she prodded his side. "You're a poop." It was said in the most affectionate manner she could currently muster, as she slipped each of the missives into her bag. Olivia wasn't that hungry for a candy cane right now, but would enjoy them later.
Mumbling some stupidly lovey-dovey words to her person from his side, she refocused on the lesson at hand...
...Okay, so, Liv would NEVER claim to know much about Transfiguration spells, as she was the definition of SUCK at them... but one thing she WAS well informed on...was charms magic... and Brent, along with the Head Boy, had both provided charms for their answers. Giving the two Slytherins curious looks, the blonde assumed the sudden startling appearance of Santa had befuddled them both. It had certainly taken her off guard, as well. "What about the Vanishing spell...? To clear away snow and ice? For safety." "Another very useful answer! It may take you some time in clearing away the snow and ice but it could be done," Cami nodded in agreement smiling still. Quote:

She raised a hand, "Professor... Isn't there a spell that can change your outfit? Multicorfors, I think? That could help, right? You'd have warmer clothes to protect you against the cold." Etta wasn't sure that was a good suggestion but she had tried anyway. "Yes Multicorfors! Normally this is used to change the color of something but it can also be used to change the style as well if you are capable of doing so. Very good," Cami smiled warmly. Quote:

She wasn't happy with her answer, but at least it wasn't already told. "Incendio would come in handy yes but it's also a charm." There seemed to be some confusion once again about the difference here. Quote:
Oh. So much for an easy lesson.
Carlton didn't know that many transfiguration spells, and he had no idea what was classified as charms and what was considered transfiguration. So he sat quiet, jotting down notes as the other students gave their suggestions. Especially the ones Liv and Roo mentioned because mama and papa reasons.
Even though he knew nothing about everything, he still raised his hand. Commitment. "What about transfiguring yourself into a polar bear? That would be handy." He doubted that was something you could do though, just transform yourself into an animal. Silly.

Camilla laughed softly nodding her head. "This would be very effective to you depending on where you are however it wouldn't be easy to accomplish and you may need someone to change you back." Adorable answer though none the less! Quote:
He was about to say incendio when he had an instant replay in his head of the Professor saying Transfiguration spells. Oh so it cant be some other charm. The Curly Top thought about this carefully, trying to recall what spells his folks use at home that he may have picked up on--
--oh! Here's one that his dad uses often enough when he's too lazy to get up from his favorite chair. "Professor, the spell Vestis Cotone, it conjures a cotton blanket." nod nod. Very helpful in chilly nights.
"Excellent Mr Salander a warm blanket would be very useful." Quote:
Candy grams. Noelle lifted her head as names were called. She wouldn't admit it, but she was hoping her name would be called and a nice little message would have been written for her.
Alas, that didnt happen.
Noelle didnt dwell on it too much but she did look around at the others that got some grams. She was glad they got one. Though, Char didn't seem to happy about it.
Noelle's attention went back to Professor Stewart as she continued on with class. She listened to other people's answers. Um... some weren't Transfiguration spells, but good answers. Definitely would help with the cold. "A Switching Spell would probably work." Noelle offered.
"Yes a switching spell could help." She agreed nodding her head.
Hmm, what was this? Cami turned towards the door when it opened, Viktor entering her room. More Candy Grams? "Quite alright Viktor, thank you." No harm done as the students hadn't started their lesson work as of yet.
Now that he was on his way the lesson could continue! "There seems to be a bit of confusion on a Charm and Transfiguration this afternoon but everyone gave amazing answers. Well done!," she smiled warmly taking a small box from a draw on her desk. Walking up and down the aisles she set a two small pieces of cotton fabric on each desk. Once everyone had two pieces she walked back to her desk setting the box down. Taking two pieces for herself she laid them on her desk before taking out her wand.
"I would like you all to take out your wands please. The first spell we will be working on today is 'Manus cotone'. It is pronounced Man-us co-tone. With a quick flick of her wand the incantation appeared on the board behind her. "The wand movement is simply a light tap on each piece of fabric while saying the incantation."
Holding her wand firmly in hand she light tapped on one piece of the fabric and then the other while reciting, "Manus cotone!". Each piece of cotton fabric transformed into a perfect cotton glove. "Go on and practice the incantation first then give it a try. Just remember to focus on what you want in your mind in this case a pair of gloves."
Cami would be walking around the room should anyone have any trouble or any questions. "We will be moving on to the main activity in about fifteen minutes." Seeing as this was a fairly uncomplicated spell it should be more then enough time. OOC: This is an easy spell so there shouldn't be any problems with the students getting their pair of gloves! Should they need Cami she will be walking around the room. Only one post is needed really with them practicing the incantation and then the spell itself but you're welcome to post as much as you like!
