All that stuff? About Salazar Slytherin? Abey had been listening and watching and maybe actually staring with his mouth hanging open slightly actually, because he couldn't recall ever experiencing such anger in so many people and all at once. And also, he didn't understand it, all that stuff about Slytherins needing to distancing themselves from actual Mr. Slytherin. As far as he knew, Abey's cousins, and also his aunts, had been proud Slytherins. And actually he had never heard of all that........ business......... either. It was sort of... well, it was sort of scary and surprising actually. But also, he didn't think it sounded like real life at all. Perhaps the prefect, who had (to Abey's ABSOLUTE SHOCK) walked out of class, was mistaken. After all, she hadn't known Mr. Slytherin personally, so maybe it was just rumours that she believed. Except... Professor LadyNewton was confirming the evil intentions thing. So... um... well. Huh. Maybe he needed to go bother Rula or Junia about all this. Actually.

Even SO, Abey... was feeling a little bit stupid actually, because so many people in here seemed to know all about all of that stuff - enough to argue about it, and here he was, a pureblood and everything even, not knowing any of it.

More reasons to hate History of Magic, actually. It made him feel stupid. Perhaps even more stupid than he actually was. Though that was probably difficult.

And speaking of DIFFICULT, it was time for the activity apparently, an activity that made Abey groaned just a little bit maybe. Because actually he had thought all about this kind of thing before, about what a fifth house might be, and eventually decided that it was too difficult to think of something completely new, but now he HAD to, and then he had to write it all down. Couldn't he just do the drawing thing?

... Actually yes. Abey was going to start with the crest. And maybe actually only do the crest and oops accidentally run out of time before he could do any writing. Good idea. Cool.

So, with that plan in mind, Abey got out his parchment from his bag (because obviously he hadn't been taking notes actually) and one of his drawing pencils. Now he only needed to think of something to draw, and so Abey looked around at the others in the classroom, and then down at the front of his school robes, at the Gryffindor crest that was attached to them. Yeeeeeeees.

He got to work, carefully drawing out the same 'shield' type shape that made up the Gryffindor crest, and then dividing it into four with one vertical line down the middle, and a horizontal line across the other middle, but using very light pencil strokes. The reason for this was that actually he was going to draw an animal - a house mascot - in the middle, which would be on top of the lines, but he hadn't decided exactly what yet actually.

Next came all the 'frilly bits' around the outside, which was actually the helmet from a suit of armour that sat on top of the shield, like on the Gryffindor one, and a banner underneath which he left blank, and the fiddly swirly feathery type shapes on the sides and some of the top. So far, it looked exactly like all the Hogwarts crests, except with no colours, no mascot, and no house name.

Still trying to put off the writing part, Abey next started to wrack his brains for an animal to draw there in the middle. An interesting one that wasn't too much like the ones that were already house mascots.
