If I kept it in my pocket, I would definitely forget to check its freshness." And to have an expired medicine in his pocket was a no-no. "Good for you though, Master Winslow. A very useful charm for a Ravenclaw like yourself. Just, make sure to check the book out properly from the Librarian. You wouldn't want to walk in ripped trousers..." A friend of his tried that once...and they all had a good laugh out of it.
River busied himself as he carefully removed the jinx from Mason's other hand, restoring each of his fingers to normal. "That should do it, let me see you open and close your hand...and if you can make a tight fist out of it." The healer stood back and watched the boy exercise his hands.
Her. So he didn't bang his head anywhere...or touched a cursed object. The jelly fingers and broken nose was done by a girl? Merlin's beard. When River heard the rest of the boy's words, the Ravenclaw earned a raised brow. Mason could thank Merlin's name because if he saw the act with his two eyes, there would be some form of interrogation and a possible detention. "I do not wish to meddle with your business, Master Winslow...but if you or her end up in the confines of this ward, then the two of you will leave me no choice but to contact your Heads of House." He doesn't mind the bloody nose or the jelly fingers if it had been an accident out of curiosity, as long as it was not because of a heated argument. Yes, too late now Master Winslow. The connection had been made.
"Yes, I did. I also worked for Castelobruxo." So dealing with teenage drama wasn't new to him, however, he isn't quite ready to say that he's used to it. "Chin up, Master Winslow." River hooked his finger under Mason's chin, and helped him tilt his head backwards. River pointed his wand in between Mason's eyes and made a quick flick with his wrist, "Episkey."
CRACK!
"Breathe in slowly...and breathe out from your mouth. Go on." River crossed his arms and waited for Mason to do the exercise. He wanted to make sure that his nose was back to its normal alignment before wiping off the white goo on Mason's face.
Mason nodded his head as the Healer went on about how the charm would not be helpful in his case. Still, he could not deny that it was a pretty useful charm right?
"I use the spell on my bag, not my trousers" he laughed and a second later he winced.
"I should have mentioned that, sorry" Great, now he had a mental image of someone putting books in their pockets and ripping the fabric because of the weight. He laughed and winced again.
His laughter died quite abruptly when the Healer had caught on what had happened to his face and Mason, even though he had been ready for a 'talk' still lowered his head, his face and ears and neck red as a tomato. Instead of saying anything, because he had the feeling that 'but she started it!' would sound really childish so the sixth year went on to testing his hands and was glad that they worked normally again.
"You worked at Castelobruxo as a Healer as well? That's really cool, did you go to that school as well? as i student i mean?. I'm from Durmstrang myself" he pauzed a second.
"I have no idea why i said that" he shrugged his shoulders as if to say, oh well.
Oh boy. He knew that his nose needed to be cracked again in order to heal properly and he took a few deep calming breaths as he tilted his head back wards. He did not want to see what was happening so instead he looked up at the ceiling of the Hospital Wing and a second later he gasped out loud when he felt his nose getting in the right position. It hadn't necessarily hurt, it was more the shock of it that had caused him to gasp.
Lowering his head and trying to not touch his nose, Mason did as the Healer said breathed in slowly through his nose and then out through his mouth a couple of times.
"I can breathe" he tried again.
"Normally i guess" and again.
"Yep, thanks!"
