The problem is, would his son have the same fate as he did? The man immediately shot his son a look and wondered what was wrong with his child. Well obviously, he’d been thinking about this way too much.
Albert let out a sigh, and poked the ground with his umbrella and considered Aramis’ words. “You do have a valid point son, but if you think this young lady is worth your time, then I don’t think you have no reason to be scared of the what-ifs.” Albert raised his nose in the air once more, and scrutinized Aramis even further. He did look like he was willing to gamble his chances with this girl. “You might as well realize that whatever choice you make in the coming days, there should be no regrets in the end.” Because that is exactly what it means to live.
The man gave his son a smile. Of course that was what he wanted, but then his self-preservation got the best of him. It wasn’t exactly a helpful Slytherin trait while...he’s about to be involved in a relationship. “If she doesn’t reciprocate your feelings, then make your inevitable misery matter. You wouldn’t know, unless you try.” Albert gave his son a look, and a sigh before continuing. “This is something that you must face on your own, but remember that I am here for you. Your mother and I will always be behind you.” He said placing a hand behind Aramis’ neck, and gave it an affectionate squeeze. “You will be alright, no matter what the outcome is. Hmm?”
Albert had let go of Aramis, and looked over his shoulder once more...clearly disgusted by the lack of privacy in the room. “Lucky girl indeed. I could use a cup of tea myself.” He said in a low murmur, and narrowed his eyes at the man who seemed to be busy looking at sweaters. Was he eavesdropping? For his sake, he better not be listening to his conversation with Aramis. After a long and calculating stare at the stranger, he shifted his attention back to Aramis. “Why would I laugh at you in the first place? You’re in a serious predicament.” He said blinking several times at his boy. “And what are you? A Gryffindor?” Albert shook his head and let out a chuckle. “You know what you want, and the next thing you should be doing is to plan things. Start small. A group study, a good afternoon sail on the Great Lake...” Albert trailed off, and looked at his son expectedly. “I am sure you can do better in that department compared to your old man?” When was the last time he took their mother out on a date anyway? Aramis nodded as his father spoke, he fully agreed with him.. and he knew Dylan was worth it, he had just been over thinking things a bit to much...
Okay so maybe more than a bit. Which was why he needed his Father to give him some advice and knock the Ravenclaw out of him. "She is worth my time Dad, and you are right. Whatever choice I make I want to make it with no regrets. " He said with a bit of a smile as he nodded. "I just needed someone to tell the Ravenclaw in my to go away. " He said with a half smile as he ran a hand through his hair again.. less frustrated this time.
He smiled back at his father as he spoke and he nodded. "I'll keep that in mind Dad, you are right. I won't know if I don't try. " He had just been so darn scared and out of his depth, leave it to his father to shine some perspective on things. The dark green eyed boy grinned as his Father spoke again and he felt his hand give his neck an affectionate squeeze.. Aramis reached out an an arm to gently clap his Dad's shoulders while they were close. This whole conversation meant so much to him.
He had asked for his Dad's help and he had come, he had taken time out of his busy schedule to help him out. Even if he didn't like it here. "I know you will be here for me Dad, You and Mom. I'm lucky to have parents like you. " The sixteen year old cleared his throat a bit. "Thanks. "
He pulled back and was back leaning on the wall, trying to look nonchalant about this whole thing.. You know pkay it cool. But the Slytherin was happy to be having this moment with his Father.
Aramis covered up a laugh at the older man's words with a bit of a cough.. You wanna head over to the Three Broomsticks? See if they have any tea. I'd make you some myself but all my stuff is in my dorm. Mother sent me this amazing China teapot. " He said conversationally as his eyes too wandered around a bit. Yeah perhaps this hadn't been the best place for a heart to heart, but it had worked.. "I don't know why you would.. maybe think it's dumb because I'm having such a hard time with a girl? " The boy shrugged.. It seemed like it could be something he could handle. But he really was out of his depth. "I am most definitely NOT a Gryffindor! And I do have a few thugs planned. We are going to a Quidditch game and I'm taking her to dinner afterwards.. but afternoon sail sounds lovely.. and I want to okay my Violin for her sometime.. " Yeah he had plans.. Now to enact them! |
