Matt deliberately chose to skip the tonic part because he knew how fussy animals could be with medication aaaand he kinda didn't want to fight kneazles at the moment. He wanted an eeeeasy going class and so he chose to do only the easy tasks that didn't require actually interacting with the creatures.
He got a bottle and used the scouring charm to clean it. He also got a blanket and put it over the kneazles to see what would happen. He put it over them as in completely-on-top-of-the-creatures, who didn't seem to be that bothered about it. Huh. They must be really ill.
The Gryffindor did fill up the bottle with some milk - because liquid food sounded like something not even animals would enjoy - and even warmed it up using the hot air charm. Hmmm... maybe he could stop being lazy and at least try to give it to the cats.
