Professor Newton was telling him there was no harm done, but what if whatever he needed to say was super important! WHAT IF. Now he was never going to know. His memory was pretty good most times but once something was forgotten, it was unlikely it would ever come back to him, sadly. He just nodded in response to her though, no need to let her know he had no faith in his brain.
Aside from that, he loved hearing about how much people loved their jobs, especially when it was teachers who loved teaching. When Ollie imagined himself as a professor, it made him happy. Meeting his first group of students and seeing them grow within their years at school. The whole sounded pretty great, honestly. And if he liked it enough, he could do it till he was old and gray! "Can I ask, how long have you been teaching?" It was possible she had told the class this...but Oliver wasn't exactly good at paying attention all the time... Sorry, professor. "But you have to take other classes right? You didn't just take History of Magic classes?" Surely there was class all uni students had to take, no matter what they were studying. "You are very welcome," Rosalyn said with a smile. It was wrong to play favourites and she tried not to, but she was really fond of Oliver. He was a very sweet boy and did put effort in even though she could tell that he wasn't a huge fan of History of Magic. That was okay though; a lot of people weren't interested in learning about history. Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts were a lot more exciting.
Oliver's next question was a little surprising, though not overly since she knew that he had an interest in teaching. It was always a good idea to ask a lot of questions when it came to things like career options, and Rosalyn was VERY pleased that he was doing so. "Well, this is only my second term as a proper teacher, but I spent three years as a teaching assistant at Durmstrang before coming here." While she had less experience than some of her colleagues, she liked to think that she was doing a good job; she was also constantly learning as she went! "Being a teaching assistant is a good way to ease into things, because you get more comfortable with students and can watch the way that teachers do things and get tips from them." Just pointing that out to him. Quote:

Water was easy to drink and he wouldn't get distracted by it when he needed to be focused and potentially taking notes. As he pulled his notebook out of the back of his trousers, Rooney watched his History of Magic Professor and shrugged. "I'm not even sure, Professor. I was thinking of applying to WADA..but I should be waiting for Olivia. And now she thinks that she wants to travel, and I'm mighty confused about what to do." Because Liv was younger than him and so he would have to find something to do whilst he waited for her to graduate and do the things they wanted to do. "So... I was thinking about going to uni while I wait for her." Maybe. Probably.
Who knew. Brownies and water it is!
With a smile, she handed both over to him. "Here you go." Now he could enjoy his snack while they discussed things.
Nodding, Rosalyn listened to him. It was no surprise that Rooney was considering WADA, as she knew the boy had interest in the dramatic arts. She also knew that he enjoyed History of Magic. Those were two routes that he could go down, but she did understand wanting to wait for his girlfriend. Young love was something that she knew well. "It's never a bad idea to have something in reserve as far as career options, and at the very least you can improve your skills." Basically she was saying that she was in agreement with his thought process. Going to university was never a bad idea. "Have you looked up any of the courses available at university yet? Have you considered studying history?" He was one of the best students in the class though of course he could have other interests as far as Wizarding university was concerned. History was her main focus, however. |
