He’d rather spend his afternoon practicing his Kendo.” He commented as he continued to examine Sam’s arm. “And yes, I do have to stay behind. It’s part of my job to be on-call 24/7.”
The Gryffindor’s expression didn’t go unnoticed. “Pain acknowledged, Master Chevalier. Now, I need you to sit back and relax...and drink this numbing potion.” Gryffindor or not, he wouldn’t like the pain of re-aligning his bone by the millimetre. “Once you drink it, you will feel the need to sneeze. Don’t suppress it.” He said reaching for a clean face towel on his bedside. “You will need this to cover your mouth when you sneeze.”
As River waited for the numbing potion to react, the Healer wasted no time in preparing the next steps: He levitated a thick white cloth in between him and Samuel, so the boy wouldn’t see his outstretched, injured arm. “The numbing potion is a strong one, so you shouldn’t feel anything when I do the next procedures. Feel free to continue your conversation with Miss Botros.” Because he’d definitely need a nice distraction at this point. Quote:

Her cheeks went a bit pink and she waited for Sam to answer first, giving herself a moment to think. Then it was her turn, yes? "I'm not sure if I'm going, yet. Depends." On things and stuff. Because reasons. Yeah. "You're good at it, Sir. Your job, I mean. We're lucky to have you." What? Sucking up to the healer wasn't without its benefits. The thirteen year old was always surrounded by Gryffindors, she was bound to get hurt sometime.
Once the actual exam began, Junia stayed rather quiet. Being here was reminding her of when her grandfather had been sick, healers always hovering around and discussing his condition. It was a bit unnerving, honestly, and she needed the distraction just as much as Sam might now that his arm was going to be set.
Moving to his other side, Junia claimed the hand on Sam's functioning arm and gave it a squeeze. "Our rematch can be something other than jumping from swings, okay?" Okay, so everyone except Healer Reed's Kendo-practicing nephew wanted to go to Hogsmeade. Being on-call all the time sounded like a lot, Sam thought. Hopefully over the summer break Healer Reed made up for his personal life falling to the wayside during the school year.
He caught the 'very ungracefully' bit that Junia murmured beneath her breath, but smiled at it and watched her move her hair behind her ear. It was odd, he thought, that she didn't seem so excited to go to Hogsmeade, or even sure that she would go in the first place. It must have been something else that was bothering her. Hm.
Sit back and relax. Well, he could sit back, but relaxing was a stretch. Regardless, he drank the numbing potion as instructed, and though it didn't taste all that disgusting, that pre-sneeze sensation overtook him straight away. He crinkled his tingling nose and....
"Achoo!"
The healer had given him that towel just in time, otherwise the man would probably be covered in sneeze saliva.
While Healer Reed worked behind the suspended white cloth, Junia was doing an excellent job of distracting Sam. It felt oddly nice just holding her hand, even if it was just their palms and fingers touching. He liked how he felt when their skin touched. "That might be a good idea for now," he smiled.
Anyway, they were to be carrying on conversation. Incidentally, the numbing potion was working quite well. "I haven't really gotten to meet your cousin yet. Is he feeling any better about his housing placement?"
