Ever since dad had read him a picture book about Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Derf had had the dream of visiting the not-so-secret chamber himself. Partly because he was curious as to how the drawings in the book reflected the actual chamber itself...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he was kind of sort of hoping to maaaaaaaaybe find a spare basilisk tooth...or skin...laying around down there. Which he knew was a bit of a stretch, but this WAS Hogwarts were literally ANYTHING was possible!

It was for these reasons, and more, that Derf ever so slooooooooooooowly pushed open the door to the girls' loo and stepped inside. He was going to be SUPER quiet and not make a peep and just nonchalantly make his way over to THE sink and ----

"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!"

So much for being quiet.

Now, the first year did not see the world the same way as everyone else...but that did not mean that something beautiful looked any less so than it did to anyone else. He knew a pretty color when he saw it and her hair was really REALLY pretty.

"Did you know haff phoenix hair," he squeaked, now totally close enough to reach out and touch it. Which he did. Because preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty.
