Hogwarts RPG Name: Sinead Dance First Year | SPOILER!!: Elle Quote:

Plus, she’d hardly expected the response her simple greeting had received. It had all equaled her only sitting there listening as the discussion had gone on, taking notes as quickly as she possibly could given the amount of information being provided.
Strengthening shields certainly seemed useful to her. At least by way of hopefully preventing injury. Not to mention it seemed fairly easy to accomplish, if it could be used in a multitasking situation. The concerns over spells dropping in the process of casting Fianto Duri made sense to her, and Professor Hirsch had done a good job of relieving that concern. She felt he had, anyway, as she’d set her notes down to get to her feet.
Should she challenge herself or just stick with the simple spells for now, until she was comfortable with the spell? It was something to consider, while she just stood with her wand in her hand loosely, thinking, both about her answer and all the requests for partners going on around her. Finally, she settled on the simple, looking around in case anyone wanted to join her before she began casting. “Protego!,” she cast, confident in her ability to cast a simple shield. It was only after then that she pointed her wand again. “Fianto Duri!”
Was that a faint bluish tinge to the air around her? She couldn’t tell.
Sinead had tried again to cast Protego, and again it had worked- but still not as well as she could have hoped. Right now, the shield definitely wasn't lasting long enough for her to even attempt to cast Fianto Duri as well. Lowering her wand with a frown, she looked around the room once more and saw an older girl creating a shield without hesitation. She looked vaguely familiar- from around the Common Room, Sinead guessed upon seeing her green-trimmed robes.
"Excuse me," she said somewhat uneasily as she approached Elle inbetween her casting. "Um- I haven't cast Protego before, and I was having some trouble making it last. Could you maybe give me some advice, please?- and then I can help you test your shield...?"
She wasn't exactly one to jump out and make new friends, but neither was she about to let this lesson pass her by because she never plucked up the courage to ask for help. |
