Olivia bit her lip as she walked past the Quidditch stands and into the field where Mr. McLeod was standing, feeling incredibly nervous about what they were going to do today. She eyed the brooms and then glanced at the Professor. "Good morning, Mr. McLeod!" she said with a smile before going back to eying the lined up brooms. This was going to be interesting. First of the kiddies to arrive, though this one was older " Good morning to you Miss Olivia." Justin greeted with a grin. Quote:

Such a polite boy he was. Quote:

Because Zoryn Spinnet LOVED the idea of FLYING. ahem.
Not that she had ever actually flown before. Her overprotective parents would never approve of that. Of course now that she was at Hogwarts, they couldn't really stop her from trying. Especially since they found out she was sorted into Gryffindor House: Home to the brave and stupidly reckless at heart. Before coming here, she had NO idea that they did flying lessons at this school. It was almost like life wanted her to fall more and more in love with this place every second.
Wasn't she supposed to hate school? NAH.
She waved enthusiastically at Mr. McLeod as she approached. He was a VERY tall, very hairy man. Not knowing what she was meant to do ('cause most teachers always told them where to sit and normally they had chairs or mats or something), she went and stood right next to the gigantic man well, gigantic compared to her. And attempted to imitate his exact pose, 'cause this must be how a Professional Flyer stands.
The only problem with this whole thing was, well, the brooms. "Psssssssssssssssssssssssst...." she STAGE whispered at him, still facing forward. "Are we allowed to bedazzle our brooms?" It took a bit self will to not get Justin busting out laughing at this one. Out of amusement of course. The most anyone saw from him however was a sly smirk as he nodded toward her waving and posing. " Psssst, just don't break it." He stage whispered back. Quote:

Like, actually up in the air throwing weird looking footballs around.
It was cool but also terrifying. He would probably enjoy a spot on the stands a lot better than flying around trying to stay balanced on a broom. But this was his Head of House that taught the students to fly. Not only did that make him the coolest Head of House on the school but it also meant Carlton had to fight his innate skill of fumbling.
When he reached the pitch his eyes landed on the brooms and he swallowed hard. Did this mean that he would know how to control one of those at the end of the lesson? He hoped not. Heights was bad. Keeping his balance on something that tiny and wobbly was even worse. "H-Hello Mr. McLeod." He did an awkward little head bow and stood scraping his shoe on the ground. If only he could be as cool and suave as Mr. McLeod
He didn't like the fact that he would embarrass himself in front of his Head of House. Or the fact that he would probably have to go see Healer Reed after the lesson was over. Now where were his little snakes? Aha there was one. " Hello there." Justin greeted him with a smile. Shy kid, eh? From the bit of hesitation in his voice. Well he joined the right lesson to loosen up.
It was about time to begin by the time enough had arrived. "Well then, good morning everyone. Glad to see you all have made it here safely. Welcome to your beginning flying lesson. Today we will be as expected getting acquainted with the brooms here before taking flight. I dare say after the lesson at least some of you will be able to progress into the advanced lesson later on." Something to look forward to, "Alright, if you haven't already go on ahead and stand next to one of the brooms laid out." Waiting as everyone did so before he could continue.
Now then, "To start off, we will be doing a trust exercise. I want you all to stick your most dominate hand out over the broom and shout as clearly as possible, 'Up!'" Just as he explained and showcased, Justin's broom zooomed straight up to his right hand. "The time it takes for you to do it varies, some will have it right away and some will be a while. This does not mean you will be a horrible flyer if it comes up later, it just so happens you may be more aware of the obstacles and possibilities to keep an eye out for in the air." So there would be no reason to give up.
"If you're a bit nervous, you can close your eyes and imagine a safe place to get you comfortable enough while trying to summon it. Feel the broom.. Embrace the broom.. Be the broom.." Sounds about right, yeah? "Now then, keep calm and give it a go!"
--- OOC: Now you'll get to try to summon your broom to your hand. Feel free to be creative with methods that may help. We'll continue again tomorrow until then. |
