The boy lowered his cup, trying to get on some common ground with the man who surely must have been young once. Young and superficial. "Have you ever seen your girlfriend with a beard, Professor?" His tone was calm, a deception given how utterly freaked out the whole thing made him. "Did you think she was pretty after that? Did you still want to grab her and snog and tell her the other girls have nothing on her?" Because if he did, he was lying or far stranger than Blaise had first anticipated.
Don't get him wrong, a beard didn't suddenly make Clara hideous but that beard though. "I just think...you know...if girls were meant to have facial hair, they'd grow them naturally--y'know?????" "I... well I don't have a girlfriend, Mr Bellaire," Art said. What did he mean? Were there rumours going around or something? "I... I..." he stuttered, before his face beamed realisation. "Ahh. Your... girlfriend tried to sneak into the boy's dormitories?" he asked, quite shocked indeed. "Yes I believe they would have grown it all naturally if they were meant to have facial hair," he agreed. "But Mr Bellaire... the dormitories are for sleeping, not... not... mixing with other genders. The common room and other areas of the school are there for that. Not the common rooms." Art took a little breather, trying NOT to think of why Mr Bellaire was trying to get him to lower the charm. "I'm sorry to disappoint you Mr Bellaire, but I will not be getting rid of this charm. Unless I put up a new charm. An invisible barrier against females, perhaps?" There were options, but they would all be there to stop females from entering make dormitories, and males from entering the female ones. No, the old man might have thought he was open minded but he would remain obdurate in his decision.
