Hmmm....
....
Jordan just nodded a little. "Right, I understand that you are very interested to work with the creatures in the barn. I don't give any limitations, except that for some creatures you do need assistance. You can ask me or maybe some other older students." That's simple. And as the winged horses. "Younger students are free to take care of them, but I only allowed fourth year students and above to ride it by themselves. If you want to try the ride, you must ask my assistance. And you don't have to worry, the winged horses here are gentle."
So. Many. Questions.
But he's trying to be patient because at least he loved her enthusiasm. "Thestral doesn't really require a very much care. You just simply have to feed them, and you can do that even though you can't see them." Oh oh OH! He was reading the letter! Hazel sat up just a bit, still curious beyond all curiosity what it said. Even so, she kept on petting Big Boss with one hand while holding her cocoa in the other. "Daddy says I'm very gentle with the golden snidgets," she offered, responding to the Professor's statement about her interest. She had skill too, see? Seeee?
She listened, her eyes getting bigger and bigger and bigger. She could help with the horses? SHE COULD HELP WITH THE HORSES????? "I.. I can?" she whispered, having assumed that she wouldn't be let anywhere near them. It was almost too much for her tiny little heart to handle and she squirmed trying not to bounce where she sat, for the sake of Big Boss, of course. She nodded at the big about the riding. She did want to, but it did make sense that she couldn't on her own. "So if I wanted to ride, I'd have to find you, ok.." she said more to herself than to him, her gaze now somewhat down, as if she was reading something written on the floor, her brain whirling a kilometer a minute. "What if I took riding lessons over the summer? Would I have to wait for fourth year?" She looked back up at him, curious. Her dad had told her she needed to follow all of Professor Hernandez's rules, so she was simply trying to figure out if there was a way he could bend them for her.
It was interesting about the thestrals, though, and her million questions started racing again. "But about the thestrals... is there a way to tell that they're there if you can't see them? Are the stables labeld? What if students think a thestral's in a stable but really, it's just empty, and they keep leaving food for a creature that doesn't actually exist?"
Hypotheticals.
