It seemed like Hazel was fond of his dog. Well, many students who had visited his hut loved him. "I call him Big Boss. You're free to pet or play with him. He's very friendly with people." In fact, sometime a little bit clingy. "Do you want to come inside and have some... hot cocoa maybe?" Because not many younger students enjoyed brewed coffee.
Hazel's head turned back very quickly when he mentioned knowing her dad. Her eyes widened in surprise. "You did?" she said in a bit of a whisper. Daddy didn't tell her that!! Did he know other people at the school????
And he wasn't reading the letter. Daddy said it was important but she didn't want to be pushy and tell the professor what to do. And she didn't know what was in it so maybe he was expecting it or.. the Hufflepuff's head raced, but was quickly quieted by more information about the dog. "Big Boss..." she repeated, trying the name out. She was glad to hear that he was friendly and she almost immediately dropped down to pet him. Her mission was accomplished. Now it was creature play-time. Her hands very gently moved over the dog's fur but her attention was called back to the professor.
Hot chocolate? How could she say no to that?!? "That would be very nice, thank you," she said, tempering her enthusiasm and remembering her manners (thanks, Papa!). "Can Big Boss come inside too, then?"
