If she had seen one before, it certainly wasn't anything like this one. Usually when you heard the word treehouse, you weren't expecting... well, something that looked like an actual house. And there she was, standing in front of a house in a tree that looked roomy enough for someone to live in.
Wow.
The best part was that tree houses don't bite like creatures might. Maybe wizarding tree houses did, but she knew the muggle ones didn't (even though she had never seen one). At least she could approach the house with less fear, if not none at all.
Charlie approached the trunk of the tree to try to figure out how to get up (hopefully she wouldn't have to climb the actual tree), and she jumped back a bit when she was almost plowed over by shrieking, high-speed projectile.
Well. It wasn't the somewhat anticipated biting, at least.
She made sure to considerably keep her distance from the tree until the projectile made her way up a surprise rope ladder. Once the projectile was out of sight, Charlie counted to 10 to make sure the cost was clear.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
With a shrug, she approached the ladder, beginning to climb it rung by rung until her head was sticking up into the house.
Wow- it was even bigger on the inside!
Before climbing all the way into the house, she made sure there weren't any other flying projectiles. She did, however, see the one from earlier. Charlie figured it would be a good idea to learn her name instead of referring to her as a projectile. "You know...," Charlie started as she approached the projectile girl. "You'd make a pretty convincing...rocket- in, like, a play, or something." "I'm Charlie. And you are?" Zoryn bounced around the treehouse giggling in pure glee. This was AWESOME! If the Common Room wasn’t so cozy, she’d totally LIVE HERE. The first year wanted to claim it all for herself, it was only too bad that she didn’t bring a quill up here with her… She needed to write her name on it so people knew it was all hers.
Hm.
Or a guard. That's what was needed. A guard. IT WAS GENIUS! Except Zoryn, herself, was too tiny so she couldn’t be the guard.
It was this constant flow of bubbling ideas kept her just distracted enough not to notice that someone else was climbing up the ladder to HER treehouse. Well, distracted enough until her thoughts were interrupted by speech. Oh. Man she had an intruder and the guard system wasn’t even set up yet!!! SHE WASN'T PREPARED FOR THIS YET. Could the intruder, like, come back in two to three business days or something? Dang it.
Should've thought this through better. ”Is the rocket the star?” Of the play, of course. Because that was important. Zoryn didn’t know what made the intruder think that she’d make a good rocket, but if it was the star then of course she’d make a good one!! ”Y'know I'd normally have to kick you out, but since you’re nice… I’ll make an exception this time.” She nodded, quite pleased with her own ability to be so diplomatic.
Mamma would be so proud. ”Zoryn,” she beamed at the intruder Charlie who had just introduced herself. Weren't intruders supposed to be more hostile than that? Maybe she had this whole 'claiming' her castle thing all wrong. Huh. ”Pleasure to meet ya!”
