Appearance:
Kane has bright blonde hair that he SWEARS is not highlighted (but totally is). He usually just rolls right out of bed, creating a messy bed head look. He is a bit tall for his age and sort of skinny, but with strangely small feet. His teeth came in naturally straight, sparing him the humiliation of muggle braces.

As much as he hates to admit it, he's a walking California stereotype - high top sneakers, henley shirts layered on top of one another, and tons of leather bracelets are staples in his wardrobe. He loves to take pride in his appearance and has a secret stash of beauty potions in his trunk. He is trying to get a jump on the puberty acne before it actually becomes a problem.

Personality:
Kane is the textbook definition of middle child syndrome. Always wanting to impress everyone (especially his brother) he is loud, outgoing, and often reckless. School is definitely NOT his favorite thing, but after nearly failing his first semester at Ilvermorny, he is trying really REALLY hard to put more work into his studies. After the birth of his younger sister and brother, he has tried to be more responsible to be a role model to them, like his brother is a role model to him. He especially feels protective over his sister Chloe, knowing how scary the world can be for a girl, and has vowed to hate every boy she ever dates until the end of time.

Due to his ADHD, he often has a desire to start a bunch of hobbies and projects that he loses interest in very quickly because he can't focus on them very well. Throughout the years he has tried all sorts of things and eventually settled on a couple of fun activities that he thoroughly enjoys. His inability to focus also causes him to miss things that are glaringly obvious, and in sensitive situations he can sometimes be a bit tactless. He is also known for having lots of energy.

Despite being a bit of a spazz, and occasionally a jerk in his quest for attention, he is very kind and thoughtful and will be a loyal friend no matter what. If he ever does get a little sassy, he almost always recognizes that he was wrong and apologizes for it. It takes a lot to break his trust, but even after that he can occasionally be too forgiving.

One of his biggest fears about moving has got to be how obvious his accent is. American slang such as "Dude" and "Bro" are very prevalent in his vocabulary, which doesn't help the surfer dude stereotype that he has slowly grown into.

History:
Kane Steven Westwood was born on a rare SNOWY California day in December (not actually in Malibu where he was born, only up North, but same difference to him). He takes this as a sign that he is destined for greatness, somehow. Ever since he was little, Kane was a big ball of energy, and was eventually diagnosed with ADHD. It didn't help that his diet (when he got to pick what he ate, at least) was 90% pure sugar and soda drinks. His parents enrolled him in tumbling and gymnastics with muggle kids to try and tire him out and give him something to focus on. He continued this hobby up until he was about eight, because he heard that gymnastics could stunt your growth and he was very concerned about this. Since then, the hyperactivity has decreased as he has gotten older, but he still has trouble concentrating at times and often employs different techniques he learned through therapy when he was younger to force himself to focus on things.

Kane was just as excited as any other wizarding child when he finally got to go to Ilvermorny. He was hoping to get Wampus like his brother, but ended up in Pukwudgie, which he ended up loving. However, his parents dropped a bombshell on him and his brother after the Christmas break when they announced they were moving to London for their father to accept a new job. The boys were given the choice to stay at Ilvermorny, but given that they were still on the younger side and didn't want to be on a completely different continent as the rest of their family, they agreed to transfer to Hogwarts.

Likes and Hobbies:
-Playing guitar (meaning he knows three chords and "twinkle twinkle little star") SELF TAUGHT by the way!
-Tumbling
-Baking sweets (his specialities include cookies and cakes)
-Quodpot > Quidditch ANY day (but he's getting more into the latter)

SCHOOL YEARS
First Year: Ilvermorny (Pukwudgie)
Despite being nervous about leaving his parents for boarding school, Kane was beyond excited to FINALLY get started on his magical education. He had been hoping to be sorted into Wampus like his older brother, but ended up being in Pukwudgie. At first he was disappointed, but learned to love his house, making friends with almost all of his dorm mates and trying to be a social as possible.

Unfortunately, his social nature took a toll on his studies. He very rarely did his homework and towards the end of his first semester, even started to cut class so he could hang out with friends. When he flunked nearly ALL of his final exams, it was a wake up call to him, especially after he was lectured by his parents for his irresponsible behavior. He had been afraid he'd be viewed as "uncool" if he chose to study instead of hanging out with his friends, but they were actually COOL with it and supported him! Studying is cool now, who knew?

He managed to get his grades up during his second semester, although he found it very hard to focus, especially after his parents gave them the BIG news that they would be moving. He debated back and forth with his brother about staying at Ilvermorny, or transferring to Hogwarts. Eventually, they decided to move with their family and change schools. While Kane's brain wanted to treat his final semester like it didn't "matter" since he'd be transferring, he forced himself to buckle down and finished the term with stellar grades. School has actually always been a strong point of Kane's, despite his inability to focus - however, he has what many call "book smarts" and is not really "street smart" at all.

Second Year: Hogwarts (Hufflepuff)
Once it became clear that the Westwood family was moving, Kane immediately began to speculate what house he would be in. He figured he would end up either in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, and he was right - Kane was sorted into the house of the badgers, and immediately took to his new house. He made lots of friends during his first year at school and still managed to hang out with his brother frequently, despite him once again being sorted into another house - this time around, it was Slytherin house. The highlight of Kane's year, no doubt, was his first kiss although he didn't disclose this information with his fellow badger Saffron Stemp, although girls are still a complete mystery to him.

Things got a little crazy during the year, however, when a mysterious portal to another dimension appeared on the sixth floor. Kane stumbled upon it just in time to see his own brother come out of it, ranting about a monster. The portal was ominously there the entire semester until the monster actually ventured into the school, taking two students into the portal with them. Although he desperately wanted to help the boys - one of which was his housemate - he was told to stay behind by the Headmistress. Together with Brent he worked with a group of students to get Storm and Miffy, the two poltergeists, to agree to travel into the portal and close it for good. Because that's how portals work, for some reason.
