Three and a half folded cranes later, people started to arrive. Jace did not bother to look up, knowing full well that Azura would join him sooner rather than later. “Hey you.” He replied with a grin, his eyes still on the crane being folded. “Don’t go anywhere, just yet. I have...something for you.” After adjusting and pressing on the paper’s crease, Jace pocketed the last origami, and in return procured an envelope. “I made our itinerary this summer. Papa helped me out.” He said pushing the envelope towards his best friend. The expected single parchment, ended up in five sheets at the end of the day making sure that he listed down helpful information on each location and activity should Azura get lost. Not that she will, but...just in case. “We can review that tomorrow morning when we board the train? We will have plenty of time to discuss it.” He said, obviously keeping his cool.
The fourteen year old, turned his attention to the next new comers. Cass and Sam both got ‘hellos’ and coy grins, scratching the back of his ear once in a while. Starting a conversation wasn’t really his forte. Then came The Ace. The fellow third year got a grin...and soon after, Jace’s grin turned into an awkward one. Of course he knew what the Gryffindor was trying to fish out from them, given that Jace was the only male eagle present. His dorm was closest to Daxton’s and he’s heard upperclassmen talk about it. As much as he wants to supply him with the details, Jace elected not to. Why? He thought he wasn’t the right person to confirm or deny it. He could at least speculate, right? “The thing is...” the fourteen year old started...and trailed off the moment Hadley Denaker came in to the scene. Had she been through the black hole, and the thing decided to spit her back into space? Where had she been anyway? The taunt didn’t go unnoticed of course. He wasn’t dumb. However, he chose not to let it affect him. A blank expression was given to Haddie, and eventually a nod of acknowledgement. His name, Jacen, is a variant form of Jason...so really, it wasn’t an insult. Had she done her research, she would’ve done better in taunting him. That, or she’s trying her very best to impress Tenacius. Wouldn’t it be funny if Ace corrected her?
What made Jace internally snap however, was when she deliberately told everyone of Daxton’s expulsion. It may not matter anymore since the fourth year has gone, but...couldn’t she wait until their Head of House made the announcement? Did she even consider that Hirsch may not even want to share it with the rest of the Eagles because of personal reasons?
Jace could feel his cheeks turn a shade of pale pink, and he immediately scuttled to his feet. “Sorry, I have to excuse myself.” He said patting his robe’s pockets. “I have to give Hady’s parting present.” It was the truth though, that, and the fact that he didn’t want to share a table with a fellow eagle that could’ve just spent the rest of her term in the Room of Requirement for his sake. With a nod, and a gentle pat on Azura’s shoulder, he went off to see the departing Head Girl.
