Staff Room In the West Wing of the ground floor stand two stone gargoyles that love to gossip with each other and squeal whenever they catch students eavesdropping. For those that have been attending Hogwarts for a while, it is common knowledge that this room is for the staff members, professors and faculty alike. The grand mahogany door that separates the corridor and the space within is typically locked, so it is best not to even attempt entering the room unless you want detention.
Beyond the door is a long, large circular table big enough to fit each person employed at Hogwarts stands front and centre. This is where all the professors and support staff sit and discuss important school matters, ranging from discussions on the curriculum to problem students. The head of the school hosts full-staff meetings at the beginning and end of the term as well as once a month while school is in procession, though staff may be summoned for additional meetings when appropriate. On the wall behind where the head of the school sits is an enormous bulletin board that has important announcements pinned onto it.
A large wardrobe, once home to a boggart, is placed next to a small table on one side of the long, panelled room. The wardrobe is often full of various coats and robes, some of which have been hanging there for decades, long forgotten by their owners who once taught at the school. The table holds two boxes: one containing spare parchment and quills and the other confiscated student items. The opposite end of the staff room, however, is arguably the more popular spot in the room. Placed strategically by a large fireplace, comfy leather sofas and chairs provide an excellent place for the adults to socialize with each other ... or take a nap. |
