Hadleigh may not have answered the first question at all but that was due to some serious avid note taking. Yes, she was taking down notes. Quickly. Being a seventh year meant that she was not missing a thing nor taking a chance by not writing something down. So as it was there were more times often then not now that she was not answering questions. It didn't mean she didn't know the answers though.
