Nat was a regular at the barns so she had come to know the professor and trust him more then she did at the beginning. She still had a ways to go with him, but it was at least not jumpy scared anymore.
As the class started and he spoke she looked to the sky as if birds would just appear. Not that they really would, but one said birds she just looked to where she usually saw them. Putting up her hand she smiled, "The phoenix is a gorgeous magical bird that has red and gold feathers, when they become old or ill they will die and then catch on fire. A new phoenix will rise from it's ashes." They were the prettiest birds in the magical world. She always enjoyed looking at pictures of them.
Once she was finished she gave Miranda a small smile and a wave. She felt bad she didn't get to talk more before class started, but there would be time to talk after. "Yes, phoenix." Jordan responded to those students who mentioned about phoenixes. It's such a very popular one so no wonder why it also got mentioned here. "Besides the healing powers from the tears and the ability of rising from its own ashes, the feather of phoenix tail also can be used as the wand core." SPOILER!!: team owl Quote:

And not as many layers were required.
Olly tried to think of magical birds. The first one that he thought of was, of course, the Phoenix. But of course somebody beat him to it. Olly raised his hand to give a different answer. "Owls aren't technicallyy magical, professor, but they are used by wizards. They're very smart and they're able to bring letters to whoever we want to send them to." Quote:

After all, owls were capable of becoming familiars to wizards and that was a sort of magical bond that was not easily achieved and a rare gift. Not to mention how effortless they made flight look ... and their bright eyes...
The seventh year was getting a bit too caught up in her thoughts about owls to raise her hand and offer up other fowl names - phoenix and snidget being the others she knew a lick about it - but her hand still went up.
"Professor, is a cockatrice considered a magical bird?" The whole lizard's tail and a rooster's head ... and being a sister species to the basilisk was a bit confusing.
Speaking of confusing...another question...or plea...or both...
"As Oliver mentioned...many may argue that owls are mundane...but is there really no magical blood in them?" she asked, her own eyes widening like that of an owl's in an almost say-it-ain't-so manner. "While they do not possess healing tears and the ability to carry heavy loads like a phoenix...nor 360° rotational wings and speed of the golden snidget...they are capable of becoming magical familiars and their ability to trace and track witches and wizards is beyond impressive...so they possess an innate bent for magic? Or...is this more of a trait they have received because generations of their ancestors have been domesticated and trained by witches and wizards for centuries? It just seems...unusual for a creature like an owl to be purely mundane if it quite literally takes incredibly strong Repelling, Disguising or Masking Spells...and protective magic... for a witch or wizard to become untraceable by owls." "Um..." Jonas started to say as he raised his hand. "They may not be magical but would owl's count? I mean, we use them to deliver our mail so I suppose..." he trailed off.
Owls. He knew that there might be some students would mention this familiar. There were still some debates about owls being a mundane or magical creatures. "Owls are considering as magical creatures." The CoMC Professor spoke. "Magical owls are known by their ability to deliver stuffs without an answer, also for their speed and discretion." Those mundane owls might not have those abilities.
But cockatrice? Hmmm... "We know that some of the magical creatures are breeds from two or more species, just like cockatrice. Therefore, we can't really decide if it belongs to the bird group or not. But if we looked at its habit, I think it's more taking a lizard form than the rooster one."
Moving on... Quote:

When Professor Hernandez asked them to name a bird that was considered a magical creature her hand shot into the air. There were several magical birds she knew about, but she could only give one answer so she picked her favorite. "A Golden Snidget." She answered, before adding. "It's a spherical bird that can fly very fast. They can change speed and direction almost instantaneously." "Yes, golden snidgets." He nodded. "They were introduced first in 1269 in a quidditch game and whoever could catch them will be rewarded 150 galleons. But now they're being replaced by golden snitch." He added a little bit trivia about that creature. Such a pretty impressive bird. Quote:

She didn't know much about them really, nor had she ever seen one, but she knew about one specific magical quality that they had which was worth mentioning. "They have the magical ability to disappear when they are in danger. A bit like... apparition, professor." Aoife continued, a bit unsure on the last addition to her answer. "Diricawl, such a good answer Miss Dunne." He nodded. Quote:

But yeah magical creatures of the avian variety? Up goes the hand "Theres the Thunderbird professor!" the Gryffindor replied without missing a beat "They said their wings are so powerful they can create storms in their wake."
Also someone told him if he decided to stay Stateside, he would've likely ended up in the house of the same name at Illvermorny. For a boy who adored winged horses, that was all sorts of awesome chatter. Thunderbird?
The CoMC Professor smiled as the curly Gryffindor boy mentioned it. "Impressive answer, Mr. Salander. Thunderbird is a native American bird that is closely related to phoenix. Also their tail feather can be used as wand core too." He added. Quote:

"The Fwooper is a magical bird Professor, it's a brightly colored African bird and its song drives people insane. Therefore to own one, they are sold with a silencing charm that have to be reinforced every month. " Yes, owning a Fwooper was no joke and yes Azura had looked into this. "They are classified as a XXX beast." She added as she tilted her head for a moment.. "Also their brightly colored feathers can be used as quills."
There.. she was done now..
Had she gotten everything? As he listened to the Ravenclaw's answer, his lips crooked a smile. "Yes, Miss Snow." Jordan said. "That's what we're gonna discuss today." And it looked like she loved Fwoopers, judging from her answer. Or maybe because she's a Ravenclaw and you know that the house of Eagles were known as their intelligence #RavenclawPride. Quote:

Her hand shot into the air, and she waved it a bit before saying anything. "There's the birds belonging to Cliodna," she said. Cliodna was a druidess featured on one of her chocolate frog cards. Apparently, she had also discovered moondew. Anyway... "There were three magical birds that followed her around. It's said that the birds cured the sick by singing them to sleep."
Pretty cool, huh?! Cliodna's birds. "Yes, that counts. Although nobody knows what species her birds were actually. He added. Quote:

Once she decided what her own answer would be she raised her hand. "Augurey. They were once believed to foretell death with their cry, but it was researched later that it was about to rain when they cry." Which was cool that they could predict the rain or death either way both reasons of their cry was kind of useful. "Correct, Miss Delgado." He nodded. There's no need to tell more about it since she had mentioned about the cries and stuffs. Quote:

Katy's hand went up when there was a lull in the activity. "That jobberknoll, Professor. It's quiet for its whooooooooole life, and then when it dies, it will sing back every sound it ever heard." Imagine how long and wild that song would be? "Yes, jobberknoll." He nodded in agreement. "Their feathers are being used as one of the ingredients for truth serums and memory potions." Quote:

The options certainly seemed to be dwindling for unique ones but then he had an idea and raised her hand. “Would an Occamy count?” She seemed to remember mention of wings but not if it was a type of bird, And another student mentioned a breed type of two creatures. "I believe that occamy more belongs to the serpent group since it looks more like a serpent. But nice try, Miss McNally." Jordan appreciated her opinion. Quote:

Hady reached into her bag pulling out a sheet of parchment and her quill. For several moments all she did was take down notes on what her fellow mates were saying. Some really good answers to the question. One after another everyone was replying saying something different. When there was a brief pause Hady raised her hand. "What about the poisonous duck, professor? It's bred in the Ministry of Magic." She knew about it mostly due to her father and aunt both working there but also thanks to her love or reading about all things creature related. Chances were this wasn't the answer the man had been looking for but she liked to be different and not say what everyone else was saying. Poisonous duck. He did hear about those though about being bred in the Ministry and stuffs. "That also counts. He nodded. "Good answers, everyone. Unfortunately that we might not gonna be able to learn about all of them today due to limited time, so we're just gonna discuss about Fwooper." He spoke. Pausing for a while, Jordan copied what Azura had mentioned to the blackboard and also added more information about this bird. Quote: Fwooper
- Classified as XXX (competent wizard should cope)
- Has bright-colored feathers
- It song can drive people insane -> Silencing charm is required and has to be reinforced monthly
- Their feathers are useful as quills
- The four colour varieties of the Fwooper are used to represent the number four, in the runic alphabet
- License to own the fwooper is required He underlined the statement at the bottom. "Why do you think that we must have a license to own a fwooper?" He threw the next question to the students. Was it because of the classification or something else? OOC: Your answer can be based on the facts or just make it up, it's okay. Creativity is necessary Class will be resumed in approximately 24 hours or so.
