The seconds ticked by, during which Daxton tried to decide if he would respond in the written form, through gesture, or indeed whether he would respond at all. He kept his eyes fixed on one point, and continued in his attempts to ignore the nauseating decor of the room creeping into the periphery of his vision.

In the end, he gave one simple shrug of his shoulders. A useless answer to a useless question, but Daxton doubted that Hirsch cared how well he was coping at all.

No, not doubted. He downright did not believe it.

Moving on.

No matter what the boy was thinking, Hirsch actually did care. In fact, he cared a lot more for his students than he did for most of the adults in his life, even if some of his students proved to test him sometimes. It was just the way the man happened to be programmed.

But this answer? This answer was useless and told him nothing apart from the fact that Daxton Prince was choosing to be difficult. A fact that didn't make him too happy at all.

Hirsch frowned slightly. His hands were now clasped and sitting in front of him on the desk and he took a moment to glance down at it. "Well, I've received a letter from your mother about her health," As soon as he'd said this, he looked up at the boy sitting opposite him, as if to see if he was going to get any kind of reaction out of it. "The fact that she's unwell and you've had to stay elsewhere. What I want to know is whether there's anything I, or the school, can do to help."

Noelle nodded and felt like she should be taking notes. She licked her lips, concentrating on what he was saying. She knew that it would be hard work. She was already preparing herself for it. It was apparent by the extra help she was already getting from the professor.

Okay. The auror room. Noelle actually knew where that was. She had bypassed it a few times. Curious. "Right. Do you know when the first one will be? And is there anything else that I will need to be doing that can help with the training? "

Was she nervous about the training? Oh heck yes. Was she willing to do it? More than anyone could guess. This wasnt just for her. This was for others as well. What if she oculd handle the safer version of auror training..???

"Hey Professor...." She asked.... not wanting to sound vulnerable infront of him but... she was curious. "Do you think I can do this?"

That look of complete concentration hadn't gone amiss. In fact, it gave him an even clearer indication that this was no joke to her.

Good.

The first session? Hirsch paused slightly to think about his schedule. There were bound to be a few clashes and seeing as he couldn't be everywhere at once, that wouldn't do. Uh. "I could free up some time towards the end of next week. I'll post up the first assignment and send a message out when it's ready." So she had something to look forward to - or dread - over the coming week. "I'd say the key is to just keep on practising. The more practice you get, the better. If you don't want to practice with the dummies, I'd suggest asking Zeke Browne or Franklin Paton or Hadleigh Lynch if they want to. They are three of the best and Mr Paton is training to be an Auror as well."

And then she asked a heavy question.

And Hirsch? Hirsch, despite himself, just smiled. Sure, it required him to be completely honest but it was the innocence of the question that got him smiling. "I think so. Between you and me, you're already better at combat and defensive magic than most of your peers and you've worked hard for it. Auror Training will push you, yes, but I would be very shocked if I got a letter from you saying that you didn't make it." Hint hint.

There was absolutely no reason for this to spiral into something much larger that might end up getting back to his parents. Nope.

Perfect behaviour, he was on that now.

The Gryffindor moved to the centre of the room, opting against sitting until told to do so BECAUSE MANNERS. See how much work he was putting into this? Loads and loads.

Brown eyes drifted about the room as he remembered the last time he'd been in this office. It was just a year ago when he'd adamantly insisted on being removed from the dueling roster before he could further make a fool of himself. Professor Hirsch seemed like a reasonable man back then. There was noooo need to think this would suddenly go horribly.

He hoped.

If he was completely honest with himself, he'd rather not do this because no matter what he did or said, he was always going to come across as the bad guy. There was no going around it. He was sure that as soon as this chat finished, there were going to be some muttering, some name-callings and even a vow to care very little about him or the subject he taught. Not a nice thought, was it?

Eh.

Unlike Blaise, Hirsch didn't stay standing for too long. As soon as he saw that the boy had entered the room, he moved over to take his seat. Might as well get comfortable if he was about to have a little, uh, chat with him. But it seemed as though the Gryffindor had other ideas because, once seated, he looked up to see him standing right in the middle of the room. Odd. "Come and take a seat." Unless he didn't want to be comfortable.

"So," he started, pausing a little dramatically, "What happened back in that class and why do you think I wasn't impressed with your behaviour?"
