Herbology Lesson II - Fiery Flower Friends Paul had set up the portable dome greenhouse outside of the Hogwarts Greenhouses. The students absolutely could NOT miss it, and on top of that, he had given them notice that they had a lesson in the dome today. It had been here for a few days, now, though. Curious, really.
Upon entering the greenhouse, students would find it be stifling hot. Paul, dressed in a t-shirt and jeans along with running shoes, waited for his students with sweat beading down the back of his neck. But really, the climate in here had to be hot. He had warned them to dress comfortably for this lesson! He hoped no one wore a robe...they'd be dying! Positively dying!
Inside the greenhouse, there is a walkway where he students can sit, and on either side of the wide walkway are two different types of flowers.
On one side, there are these flowers: A sign is posted in the dirt with the words 'SPECIMEN A.' These black flowers that resemble roses grow in bushes, much like roses do. They do not have thorns, though, and the petals and the stems of the flowers are all black in color. They do not have a smell, and their petals, as the students can see, smolder, producing an orange color emitting from the petals. Ashes fall from the petals every so often as the petals smolder lightly. The flowers crackle like the end of a campfire. The soil surrounding the flowers has turned a blackened color, indecipherable from the ash falling from the petals. Odd little flowers, aren't they? As the an enormous cloud covers the sun, the blossom part of the flower close up slight, and the smoldering lessons.
On the other side are these flowers: A sign is posted in the dirt with the words, 'SPECIMEN B.' These are regular rose colors: reds, pinks, and whites. They are very visibly on fire; however, only the blossom of the flower is burning. The stem of these flowers are the normal green and are covered in thorns. These flowers give off a light rose scent, and the flames create a light whipping sound, almost like wind. Very light, though, hardly above a whisper. The soil surrounding these bushes of flowers is brown, the normal color of soil. As a cloud covers the sun, these flowers remain enflamed. The heat emitting from the flowers is...stifling. Good luck, students.
As students entered the Greenhouse, Paul pointed at board. "Come in and take your time to peek around the two different types of flowers, please. Once you have...explored them--please don't burn yourself all right? There is REAL fire--I would like you write ONE thing on the board--either under the similarities column OR under one of the two specimens. JUST ONE THING PELASE on what you observe about the flowers. I have buckets of iced bottle water if anyone feels the heat is too much!" Paul coughed a little, eyeing the enflamed flowers a bit. OOC: Hello everyone! Welcome to Herbology Lesson II! Come on in, have your character look around if they so want, and if they do write on the board, make sure it is only ONE thing or Paul will fuss xD I'm probably gonna be moving on in about 24 hours or more! |
