As the warmth returned to her fingers Laurel pulled out a dark green poncho to inspect it closer before she hung it back on the rack. When Kay joined her she said "That's awfully generous of you since i didn't mind being dragged here at all. I don't really need anything new, but a poncho might be good. I had forgotten how cold and windy the castle was and especially the towers." Brr. If there was something Laurel hated it was to freeze.
Thoughtfully she responded. "It does sound a bit sad you know, but you just haven't met mr right yet. I could do a reading of the cards for you if you want? Didn't you like Jordan when we were in school?" "I know what you mean, Laurel,'' Kay said with a bob of her head. "Besides, don't you think Paul would like it if another staffer wears a poncho?'' She chuckled at the thought of the kind Hufflepff Head of House. "Oh, it would be nothing. I insist you select something.'' At that moment, she spotted a beautiful plaid shirt. She loved plaid shirts! "I'm getting this.'' "How about you? Or are you single too?'' As she spoke, the woman was searching for the next perfect shirt. She was thinking more along the line of a tee shirt this time. "I think I'm used to being single but a reading would be lovely.'' She didn't want to refuse her friend. Then she stopped short with another chuckle before turning to Laurel. "He intrigued me back then but I never had a crush on him. Though I must say he's turned into quite the looker now.'' It was nice to be able to tell a friend in person what she thought. She had never told anyone else what she thought of Jordan. Anyone but her best friend. When Kay had written to Ansley, she had told him. "Don't tell anyone I said that, please.'' |
