He stayed stood exactly where he was for a few more moments, considering the drawer and other things, before stepping away and back towards the desk. The hideous desk.
Sitting himself down into a seat, Daxton turned his attention back to Hirsch, glancing at him for only a second before looking back to the letter on the desk, which had by now changed position. He paused for just a moment, then leaned back in the chair - casual, but not relaxed, and not at all with the body language that might be expected from someone who was facing either a superior, or anyone in a position of authority... perhaps because he saw Hirsch as neither of those things. While he waited for his Head of House to speak, Daxton looked, not at Hirsch, but just past him, and folded his arms across his chest. If he was completely honest with himself, he half expected the Ravenclaw to silently protest at being told what to do, especially by someone he, Hirsch assumed, disliked. So the willingness to sit down by his desk was a welcomed one.
Even if the boy was displaying every sign of your average rebel just by sitting there.
Moving on, Hirsch leant his arms on the desk and clasped his hands, his eyes completely on the boy in front of him. "So, first of all, I wanted to ask how you're doing. How you're coping with your new year." Among other things he'd get into right after he heard Daxton's answer to his question. Which, on second thought, sounded a lot like he was forcing himself into awkward small talk. Quote:

He was pretty much the only professor that didn't make her go into thats a grown up with authority over you mode. That was probably due to their year of defense training together. They had some tough emotional moments to conquer to get her to be better at defense.
"Mind if I talk to you a moment?" She was sure he would know what this was about. They had talked about auror training briefly at the end of the last school year. Hirsch had very much gotten used to working on defensive magic with this girl so to see her in his office wasn't a surprise to him. In fact, he found himself smiling when he looked up to see her face peeking behind the door. "Hello, Noelle! Yes, of course, come in," he said, gesturing to the seat in front of him. What were they going to talk about today? Defence? Auror-related things? Had she been doing any muggle forms of defence over the summer? Not that it was mandatory but it would ensure that she hadn't forgotten any of the combat side of defence she needed to know.
But those questions could wait. For now.
