That first swing felt good. Kay couldn't help but feel a tad proud of herself since it had certainly been a while since she had picked up a bat of any kind. She had loved to play bat and ball games with her dad when she was little. All that practice surely could help her right now.

She raised the bat, poised to make another practice swing but was distracted by his voice. "Who says I'm practicing for the pinatas, Viktor?'' Grinning, Kay turned to face him. She was at once impressed by his make up and costume. "My mistake. Betelgeuse.''

The woman winked. "I just may have been practicing to keep rude and obnoxious ghosts away.'' She playfully swung the bat at her friend, missing him altogether of course.
