Unlike Professor Sokolov this new professor had less presence, and seemed less at ease. Although it was hardly the first CoMC lesson she had attended this term, it was the first time she had paid any sort of real note to...
no, she had forgotten his name. It hardly mattered anyway. "Professor." She said again, standing from her bean bag. "where's the Thestral? Are there others here now?" Aslan tilted her head up at the teacher. she moved forward but made no conscious effort to move toward the Abraxans, Granians or the Aethonan. She eyed each horse carefully, committing their differences and likenesses to memory. Aslan turned back, knelling down on her knees as she searched her bag for the battered leather sketchbook she kept just in case. The professor wanted them to get the know the creatures and get comfortable, for Aslan in this instance it meant drawing them and taking notes.
Returning to her previous spot, Aslan tugged an ink pen from behind her ear and began to sketch out an outline of first the Abraxan. It was an incredible animal, meant for strength rather than speed and yet it carried no brutish characteristics. Aurora. she reminded herself. "Do the other horses have names?" She asked. She assumed they did, but Aslan hated to leave things to assumptions. Facts were reliable.
She sketched, moving closer to the Abraxan and offering the animal her hand to sniff or prod, or lick, Whatever they did to become comfortable with a witch or wizard. "Professor you mentioned being respectable to them. Is there a certain way you're meant to approach them?" She was thinking of Hiipogriffs, they way you were meant to bow to them.
Unless he just meant being kind or something, in which case she would fail to be interested in his answer. More questions from Miss Evans. My oh my, it seemed like she's really curious about these thestrals thing. Jordan couldn't blame her very much because there were so many unsolved mysteries about this creature. "Sinatra is currently there with the Head Girl Lynch." He pointed to Hady Lynch who's currently interacting with the thestral. "And there are some of them too around here..." The professor looked around to see where the thestrals herd were. "The rests are with Miss Duchannes." He pointed to the Slytherin dark-haired girl who's currently feeding them. "Some of the horses here are already here since the previous professors and they already have names. There are several new horses that I haven't named yet. Feel free to give them one if you want to." He answered. And a certain way to be respectable to the horses, maybe she meant that if they needed to bow or something like that... "You don't need necessarily to bow like when you're facing the hippogriffs. Just simply stroking their mane to petting their head, especially when you're about to ride them. They need to recognize the person who will ride on their back would do no harm and trust them enough to give you a ride." Yeah, it might sound ridiculous but it was true. Some winged horses didn't like when a stranger rode on their back and something bad like kicked that person off could possibly happen. Quote:

"So, Professeh, does dat mean we bred domesticated abraxans first, and then released 'em inteh the wild teh fend for 'emselves?" she asked curiously. What an interesting thought. She tended to assume that animals were wild first - like her pet rat Ollie, for example. He was wild before she befriended him as her familiar. There was one more question before he moved on to the main activity. Jordan turned into the Ravenclaw girl. "There are some abraxans sanctuaries that preparing the horses for their wild life. But I can say that nowadays, most of the winged horses live in a sanctuary or any kinds of magizoology facility due to the disillusionment charm requirement and stuffs to hide them from no-maj... I mean, muggles." The Department of Magical Creatures did have certain regulations about those kind of creatures.
...................
Done with answering the questions, Jordan then announce what should they do next. "Students, now I will teach you how to ride the winged horses. For those who can ride a mundane one, this might be a little bit easier for you because the basics are pretty much similar." He said as he walked approaching Maxine. "For the beginners, I recommend you to ride using the saddle and bridle, although we can ride them without those two." But still, reins and saddle were the safer option. Don't worry, Jordan already put the saddles and bridle so they didn't need to do that. "Like I have said first, you need to show your respect to the horse. Simply just stroke their mane or gently pet their head, so they could recognize you as the rider. Then gently mount on the horse. I have provided the mounting blocks for you here." He said as he demonstrated the steps: Gently stroked on their mane, then mounted on the back of the horse using the blocks. "Once you've mounted, you need to find your balance and put your feet at the foothold. Then hold your bridle properly." He showed the students the next steps. He had balanced his seat, put his feet at the foothold, and helt the bridle properly. "And then you're ready to fly. Just gently squeeze your horse with both of your legs to signal your horse to fly. To make them land, just gently pull out bridle." He gently squeezed Maxine with both of his legs and then the horses started taking off from the backyard. Jordan flew with Maxine for about five minutes and then they landed safely by gently pull the bridle. "Each horses can carry up two two students. First until Third year students should ride the horse with an older students due to safety reason." He announced before dismounting off Maxine. "Now you guys can try to ride them on around here. If you guys have any questions and concerns, just raise your hand and call on me." OOC: It's the activity time! just like what Jordan said, here's simply the steps of riding the horse:
1. Petting/Stroking
2. Mounting
3. Finding balance and positioning your legs
4. Holding the bridle/rein
5. Signaling them to take off by squeezing them with your legs
6. Pulling of the bridle/rein gently to land
7. Dismounting.
Only the abraxans, granians and aethonans are available for the riding. Three posts minimum to gain a full point in this activity. 1st-3rd year students should ride the horse with the older students. And no serious injuries happen, please. Jordan had charmed the backyard area to keep them safe ^____^
any questions/concern? just nudge me on VM/PM/Twitter
and I give you guys 48 hours to do this activity. Have fuuuun!!!!
P.S: If you guys want to continue the feeding/petting, you can still do that.
