Daxton had not initially been aware that he had actually stepped into an Ancient Runes class focused solely on the basics. At least, that was what it seemed to be so far. Identifying the runes and their meanings was quite a juvenile exercise, and the resulting information was really not even worth the paper that would be wasted in writing down any conclusions.

Because of this, Daxton remained resolutely silent, resolving to not retrieve his notebook unless they moved onto a more interesting, or at least a more useful, topic. Surely there was something that could be taught that could not be learned from the textbook.

Sat quietly at his desk, Daxton continued to trace his finger over the Hagalaz rune that was engraved there, ruminating on the rune itself. Removing unwanted influences, breaking destructive patterns, that was what the rune was for in terms of its magical uses. It was strange, really, and highly suspicious, that Daxton should sit at the desk that housed this rune. Was he himself not often considered an unwanted influence? and was he himself not one walking destructive pattern? Perhaps this Sokolov guy already knew too much about Daxton, perhaps this had been planned.

Not to mention the fact that, according to the divinatory meanings, this rune in particular also referred to change, and loss... destruction.

For a split second, Daxton's eyes flicked up and he looked, very briefly, in the direction of Aslan Evans.

And then away again, because there seemed to be some sort of ordeal (another divinatory meaning of Hagalaz) occurring with some of the other students. Or, at least, there was something occurring that was making them think there was some sort of ordeal. An earthquake, apparently. Daxton continued to watch them until the professor - who himself seemed quite unconcerned - spoke up again.

To talk about galdrs. Which were in the textbook, and which Daxton knew because he had read through the thing on more than one occasion. But, regardless of whether or not they were in there, they were boring and also meant very little to Daxton, who was, of course, not much of a talker or a galdr chanter.

Daxton gave a very deliberate and very obvious sigh. Ancient Runes could be so interesting, and he himself had quite an invested interest, but this was just too much. Or, rather, it simply was not enough. With his brain thoroughly under-stimulated, Daxton simply reverted back to leaning on his desk, head propped in hand, and stared directly at the professor through intense blue eyes, wearing an expression so impassive that it was impossible for the average onlooker to discern what he might have been thinking.
