What was odd though, was the fact that he was not obligated to live at the school or nearby. Of course he was not forced to live at Hogwarts when he worked there, but he was required to look after students after hours and on the weekends much of the time so it did make sense to stay as much as possible, even with floo technology. With this new job, when he was finished with classes he was able to leave for the day.
And so it happened that on this particular day, he had early classes which left the rest of the afternoon and evening free. Ansley decided to take advantage of the nice weather and head over to the park not far from his flat. It was always a nice setting not only for inspiration for an art lesson or two, but inspiration for his own artwork. In fact he had been sitting on a bench, sketching several views of the park in his sketchbook.
He was in the process of drawing the pond and determining the best view when he spotted a man on the other side. Ansley paused to watch him for a moment, not able to clearly make out his face at the distance he was, though he did seem familiar. Could it be that man he had met at the bookstore a couple weeks ago? Zach? He actually had the man on his mind and was mentally kicking himself for not asking him out or asking for his contact info. What were the chances that he'd even ever see him again? London was a big place. But surely his mind was playing tricks on him being that the man had been on his mind and he shook his head, laughing lightly to himself. It couldn't be him. What were the odds?
Brushing a lock of hair from his eyes as he lifted his eyes from his reflection. How long had he been standing there? He was so caught up in thoughts of Ansley that he actually lost track of time. You'd do well to stop thinking about him, don't you think?
Ignoring the question on his mind, he started off again along the path. He'd head back to his apartment soon. There was a new book he ha recently acquired from the local library he wanted to get started on. Plus he wanted to call his parents. He missed them.
Zach glanced at the persons around him as he headed down the path without really seeing them. That is, until he came closer to someone that was definitely familiar. He would never be able to forget that face... what a handsome one it was. But wait! Surely he was imagining things? He blinked hard as though that would help.
It really was him.
For some reason, Zach's heart started pounding excitedly. Walk away now, Zach. Walk away. He doesn't need to see you.
He slowly stepped closer, peering at the sketch. Damn! What a talent! He couldn't help but admire the work that had been done. Then he cleared his throat. "H-hi, An-Ansley.''
Stupid nerves. The were making him stutter. |
